So ECNL announcements are leaking out

Anonymous
It's a national shift.
MLSN is pathway to pro/MLS
GA is pathway to pro/NWSL

MLS NEXT is announcing the Tier 1 and 2 clubs sometime late Feb or early March, same as always. Right after that, NVA's definitely gonna announce they're GA, MLS, and MLS2. They're going by the MLS NEXT timeline, not GA's. But yeah, it's a done deal! Awesome for Loudoun and the whole county!

So certainly not a NVA troll, could care less if NVA nor McLean does much of anything. Does make me curious why those two are the two moving? And to be clear talking about Loudoun and McLean not NVA nor Union. Honestly, what are the other big clubs in NoVa? Don't say Arlington, they are just a big (population) county that could have a donkey and elephant running things and they would still generate profit running a soccer club. Will win nothing but will always be in business. McLean and Loudoun were the standard bearers for 30years. ECNL hats have to worried.

There are 3 GA directors at VR, TSJ, or SYC. Which one said this to your kid? Or maybe you are just making it up.

1) is this national shift towards GA or is it just a localized DMV shift as a result of those two legacy clubs being crapped on by ECNL and forced into "alliances"?

2) Is GA then all ready oversaturated in the DMV market going from one badge to five in two years?

1) could be. I bet some of the stronger ECNL clubs in the Southwest and even in the Northeast would like a chance at MLSN.

Socal here...

The "Stronger ECNL clubs in the Southwest" are highly focused on their girls programs. Often their boys ECNL programs are good but they don't compare to MLSN southwest teams and MLS Acadamies.

Basically it will take some time for them to ramp up their boys teams for MLSN if this is the direction they choose to take.

Agree with everything you have said, but let’s remember that no club has ever shyed away from more money.

Socal again...

I have a g2010 that's been playing since she was 5 and a g2016 that only started last year.

This summer my g2016 went to a big youngers boys and girls tournament and I was amazed at how many boys teams MLSN aligned clubs had vs ECNL aligned. It was not like this 8 years ago when my g2010 was playing in tournaments like this. For bigger clubs it was 5-6 to 1.

No, just that with boys and girls the environments seemed to be very different. Big clubs on the girls side had little to no representation for boys + vice versa.

My assumption is that this is the effect MLSN ECNL GA, etc have on the youngers teams + where parents take their kids to play.

Hehehe wouldn't you like to know but a GA club in VA is correct. Not trying to stir the pot just confirming some #FACTS this is happening for McLean and Loudoun. No idea what this means for Union and NVA but that is for the rest of you little trolls to speculate away about

It means more $$$!

MLSN Club
5 teams per age group x $5000 cost

ECNL
2 teams per age group x $4500 cost

I was talking about youngers so it's more like 2-3k per year + tournament fees.

I would assume there would only be 1 MLSN, ECNL, etc team per age group once the youngers get older.

If it's Adam telling you this......

All the move does for Loudoun and McLean is weaken the current NVA and FVU teams...you will end up with 2 weak GA teams (the good players on current will stay ECNL and the fringe players will have opportunity to play on the 2 new GA teams).

I'm talking strictly on girls side.

The GA teams in this area are very weak...the ECNL teams in this area are strong.

Loudoun GA and McLean GA will be weak GA teams, wait until you see the final rosters...I'm all for a little disruption, but the good, impact players will find new homes at VDA, Arlington, possibly Bethesda...will be interesting also to see who the "new" coached will be for the 4 teams.

That's interesting. I thought NVA would go to GA. But if Loudoun goes to GA, then we will have more "elite" soccer teams. So everything in VA becomes more diluted.

GA is a pathway to NWSL? Did anyone let NWSL this is going on? Doesn’t look like they know they’re supposed to be signing GA players.
