Who is secretly a little relieved to see the end of DEI policies and trainings?

Yes, this is the problem. Progressives cared way too much about stuff that impacted a tiny fraction of the population, while the vast majority of the population's main worry was inflation and crime, which Progressives really didn't do much about. The soft on crime attitude like for shoplifting and petty theft was taking a toll on people. Even CA passed a law recently to impose more severe punishment on shoplifters.

The problem with Progressives is that they don't know where to draw the line. People don't care about how you identify yourself, but Progressives pushed that in everyone's faces. Meanwhile, people's cars are constantly being broken into, and shoplifters just walk out of the stores with a trashbag full of stuff because criminals know that progressives will go soft on them.

That's why Dems lost.

I am pretty much you, except now I am really really liking Trump. This is the punishment liberals deserve. I hope it gets much worse.

Those egg prices though.

It is neither nice nor respectful to threaten people’s livelihood for using the wrong pronouns.

That is the definition of tyranny and fear.

No one was threatened with firing for using the wrong pronouns by mistake.

They were bullied online or shamed publicly or ostracized in various ways.

Now Trump is putting the fear of god in liberals.

Trump accomplished more in 7 days than the Lord could. Love it!

I wouldn't go this far. But I also agree with the PP. Where is my party?!?!? Where is the common sense party for regular people? It's definitely no where to be found in America right now.

God forbid you have to undergo training.

The only ones who don't like DEI are mediocre white people who have to share opportunities now. High performers and quality people are not bothered by DEI.

Actually, you've characterized it wrong. "Progressives" simply ask people to treat others kindly. And not be an ahole. Someone wants a pronoun you don't approve of- so what? You don't understand why? You don't need to. It is the RIGHT that made this a big deal. So offended that someone wants to be called something else then they think they should be called. I'll give them credit for weaponizing the issue, for sure. Though, it's nothing to be proud of.

And it absolutely was the Maga folks who cared about pronouns and went to court over things like that.

If you are so bothered by someone wanting to be called "they", you should be ashamed of how fragile and ridiculous you are. Yeah, this played into the election. But that merely reflects how ignorant and averse to anything "scary" when it comes to sexuality many, many, many Americans.

One thing that I would really like to eliminate all together is "protections" for people who are

1. Prior military (why does prior military job deserve "special protections"? are you a "protected" veteran?)

What special protections do Vets get?

Because the vet preference ran under DEI offices.

and accessibility...and lots of vets need reasonable accommodations.

No, they don't. Be specific. People with disabilities may need accommodations. That doesn't automatically mean veterans get some special protection accommodations.

2. The Alphabet DEIs (why is what you choose to do in your private life and in your bedroom any concern of your coworkers? why do I care if you're gay or not? and why do you deserve special protection for that?)
3. Hispanic (this isn't even a race). Stop asking everyone if they are white, non-hispanic. Stop asking for race. Period. It doesn't matter.

Agreed. Women at work should be forbidden from saying anything that would reveal they have husbands or kids. That’s disgusting! No one wants to know what you do in the bedroom.

No, here's where you are wrong. It is a woman's biological imperative to be the sex between male or female to reproduce and care for a newborn infant. If a woman employee chooses to have a baby, she deserves some protections under the law. That doesn't have anything to do with DEI. It has to do with biology and FACTS.

We should have had mandated maternity leave a long time ago for women employees who give birth and need that time to recover physically. I also think there should be some paid paternal leave for both parents, whether gay, straight, or adoptive parents. How's that for progressive? If you're so progressive, stop asking people to identify whether they're straight or gay. Who cares?

Caregivers, including a caregiver of a parent, should get some protections under the law that have nothing to do with DEI.

Way to ignore my point. It is incredibly inappropriate for a woman to mention her husband at work. Why does she think we want to know who she has sex with? This is the office.

They are, however, bothered, by being told they need special training in order to know how to relate to other people and how to behave in the workplace. It's insulting, as well as presumptuous. It assumes that, absent such training, people will necessarily behave in discriminatory ways. That's BS and everyone who is honest knows it. Some people behave badly, address them not entire employee populations, which paints everyone with the same brush.

No one cares if you're a gay man and you want to talk about your husband. Go ahead. You don't deserve to be fired for it, but you also don't deserve special protections for it. Do you see the difference? If you're so progressive, stop asking people on job applications to identify whether they like men or women.

Democrat here....I absolutely could not care less if someone wants to be called "they." And huge surprise - my MAGA in-laws also couldn't care less. They got tired of hearing about far left issues when everything else is going to pot. DC is literally a live version of Grand Theft Auto..."But but but the prisoners want to transition! But little Larlo wants to be Larla! This is something that needs to be taken seriously!"

The Democratic party is responsible for the rise of Trump. And as soon as Dems realize this, they can start rebuilding with candidates that have common sense about issues that matter to the majority of Americans. Like crime. The cost of childcare. The cost of healthcare. Inflation. Out of control immigration policies. There's a long list. They/them is not on it.

I’m black FWIW and found the entirely enterprise be essentially worthless. I’m not relieved because the current effort is about more than getting rid of DEI; it’s a wholesale effort to dismantle the civil rights infrastructure — not that it should be unassailable, but it’s a much more ambitious project that is likely to lead to folks being affirmatively and unfairly targeted, including on grounds of race and gender, with no legal recourse. That’s the real goal / the DEI foolishness just gave them any easy hook.

Ironic how something feels like 'too much' to some and patently performative to others. Over the past 5 years, nothing substantive changed in our organization despite all the calls, listening sessions, trainings. Now we just have a bunch of resentment on top of the uncool views/decisions of an organization. Yay!
