Was Walz a mistake?

Yes. No one wants a teacher that drives 90+ MPH in a 25 while impaired as VP.

But we definitely want an anti-democratic rapist felon for president, right?

If you really think this then you are the reason trump won.

I'm deeply ashamed of my country today.

And this is the problem. You have convinced yourself that you are good and anyone that disagrees with you is evil. The far left lost this election for the rest of us.
Telling us that we are bad people for opinions that didn't line up with the most left leaning elements of the Democratic party.
Telling financially struggling white people that we need affirmative action to counteract white privilege.

He wasn't going to upstage Kamala like Shapiro would have.

Isn't this Trumps exact key talking point?

Agree. The majority of the country is moderate and want pragmatic common-sense solutions to the pocketbook issues they care about. They were willing to go farther right to get the latter but were not willing to go farther left.

except all of the "leftist" initiatives on the ballot nationwide passed. (the ones in Florida had majorities but not their stupid 60%) - the issue isn't the policies. Most poeple, ie over 60% support

-sensible gun legislation
-sensible immigration reform
-Roe
- healthcare
- minimum wage

I could go on, but the GOP did an expert job of handing slogan far left policies on to the whole party, when in fact, the Dem party leadership is moderate/liberal, not progressive. So instead, we will have a christian nationalist authoritarian regime.

Except there’s nothing “Christian” about the incoming government

We dodged a bullet. Imagine him as VP for 4 years. Ick.

Of course he was the wrong VP pick when everything hinged on winning Pennsylvania. She should have selected Governor Shapiro of Pennsylvania.

The better question is was Kamala Harris the wrong pick ? The answer is a resounding YES !!!!!

Although I get that this is coming from a place of pragmatism, you do realize this is a horrible thing to say? How about we dig deeper and educate re: internalized biases in this country? Ideally in a less condescending manner.

I said in another thread that America will elect a female president and she's going to be a Republican with no-nonsense grandma vibes. America does not want a liberal wine aunt/schoolmarm lecturing them. (See: Gwen Walz)

Trump literally says anyone that disagrees with him is evil. In a speech straight into a microphone. So nope, doesn't hold. And yes in fact we do think you're idiots, so now good luck.

I don't think Harris picked anyone. I think she was pushed into the position and whoever was running things picked Walz. (That was part of the problem with Harris. Who really is running the show since she could rarely articulate anything.) And who's to say that they had any better choice? Shapiro might have turned it down, understanding that there was a high chance that this was going to go sideways--which it did--and ruin any future chances.

Shapiro is a Jew, which is why Harris’ handlers rejected him. In other words:

- antisemitism

Does this mean that my sons won't be able to get free tampons in their school restrooms?

I can't stand the guy, but I am the product of two parents who were teachers. My mom taught at a Title I school, too. So, I will just say that the tampons in a men's room are not the worst idea. My mom used to provide so many personal hygiene supplies for her students and even their relatives. She had students ask to take pads/tampons home for their moms or sisters. We all know how hard that must have been for teen boys who avoid anything mensuration related as much as possible.

Also, I have 2 daughters who play sports. When they are the visitors at another school, they use the boys locker room/bathrooms. Having free pads/tampons in there would make things easier.

Tell the truth PP:

- those reasons you wrote about had nothing whatsoever to do with Tim’s high-profile move to put tampon vending machines in BOYS bathrooms in Minnesota.

I wish he hadn’t fudged the combat service record, and he just wasn’t great during the first debate.

But other nominees could have had vetting issues, too, and I think he would have made a good president.

The fundamental problem is that Harris is a moderate liberal Californian with a kind of New Age background and only pretty good public speaking skills for someone at her level of achievement, and she was running at a time when the world is a mess, and moderates and conservatives were tilting back toward being more conservative.

If Trump lets elections happen in 2026, voters will probably tilt back the other way then.
