His press secretary just said the tariffs will punish Canada, Mexico and China for enabling the “tens of millions” of deaths that have resulted from fentanyl overdoses.
Another lie: https://usafacts.org/articles/are-fentanyl-overdose-deaths-rising-in-the-us/ |
Trump does nothing but lie. It’s not going to be pretty. |
Cool can we put a tariff on him for letting millions of Americans die of COVID from the lies he propagated? |
Updated modeling of tariffs going into effect today.
We estimate the 25 percent tariffs on Canada and Mexico and 10 percent tariffs on China proposed to go into effect as early as February 1, 2025, would shrink economic output by 0.4 percent and increase taxes by $1.2 trillion between 2025 and 2034 on a conventional basis, amounting to an average tax increase of more than $830 per US household in 2025. The tariffs on Canada and Mexico alone would increase taxes by $958 billion between 2025 and 2034 on a conventional basis, amounting to an average tax increase of more than $670 per US household in 2025. https://taxfoundation.org/research/all/federal/trump-tariffs-trade-war/ |
The Wall Street Journal editorial board thinks the tariffs are a dumb move. The WSJ represents business interests in this country.
The Dumbest Trade War in History Trump will impose 25% tariffs on Canada and Mexico for no good reason. Last paragraph of story: “None of this is supposed to happen under the U.S.-Mexico-Canada trade agreement that Mr. Trump negotiated and signed in his first term. The U.S. willingness to ignore its treaty obligations, even with friends, won’t make other countries eager to do deals. Maybe Mr. Trump will claim victory and pull back if he wins some token concessions. But if a North American trade war persists, it will qualify as one of the dumbest in history.” https://apple.news/A7xVYyOSAQHqiKuRhW2WY2w |
Trump's lost the WSJ editorial board

Now Trump is saying that the pain will be worth the price paid. But the economy, right Trump voters? Trump’s response: “This will be the Golden Age of America!” Trump continued. “Will there be some pain? Yes, maybe (and maybe not!). But we will make America great again, and it will all be worth the price that must be paid. We are a country that is now being run with common sense — and hte results will be spectacular!!!” |
I just wanted to reiterate it
|
He is batsh!t insane. |
Nothing like taking the economy that has been the envy of the world and flushing it down the toilet in a temper tantrum. |
When prices shoot up, Fox News and the conservative crew are going to sell it as a sacrifice for the greater good like food rationing during WWII. |
It’s painful to read something so profoundly stupid (sounds really like the rant the old crazy uncle living on disability and ss would throw at the end of the Thanksgiving dinner and people roll their eyes) and realize that americans voted for him not once but twice. That’s says a lot about Americans and also about the power of propaganda by RW media |
Trump does everything for show. I am sure he will now get some assurance from Canada and Mexico that they will help on the drug trade (also i cant see how Canada is responsible for the flow of fentanyl and illegal immigrants to the US) snd then will take the tarifss down while going on Foxnews to trumpet the fantastic results snd how he bended those countries to his will now there is almost no fentanyl. |
That might have worked the first time around. But the world is tired of Trump and don’t like his bullying. Canadians are furious in a way that is unprecedented. Maybe you’re right. But Trump has always had poor judgment and no business sense. |
