I never understand this. The hotels provide jobs. If it were not for tourism, the island(s) would suffer significantly. Like during COVID. The more tourists that frequent the islands, the better the economies are, and higher local employment rates. Shop in local markets and eat at local food stores.

What would you have the impoverished do? Stay with no work?

Different poster. No, but I feel guilty if I spend in one day what a family makes in a week or month.

Los Angeles can be really fun. Amazing food scene and just a lot to do overall. I think you have to find a reason to go. Go for a show or something and stay at an incredible hotel in Beverly Hills.

Cologne, like Frankfurt and other German cities, had a great old town until they were bombed and rebuilt quickly to house refugees and expellees.

Wow. Just got back from Korea and Buson was my favorite place! It’s beautiful and full of life. Saw an amazing drone show on the beach and did a wonderful temple hike. Loved it. To each their own…

I have a friend who loved it too, so maybe we just didn’t do the right things.

They're Latin in name only. They tend to have bad attitudes (especially the women), relative to their counterparts in other LA countries. Though slightly better than PR, the same can be said about Panama. Both are good for people who want a more US like experience, but they are training wheels for Latin America.

Pigeon Forge area. Rented a house near Smokey Mountains with extended family. I mean people described it as Myrtle Beach but with mountains so I didn’t go in with high expectations. But I encountered blatant racism and I never want to go back.

I don't think I've hated any place I've traveled to, but there are definitely US locations that are one and done for me: Dayton, Kansas City, Lincoln (Nebraska), Indianapolis, Colorado Springs, Reno, Tampa, Phoenix, Omaha, San Antonio, State College (PA), Outer Banks.

I understand if someone doesn't like PR because it's small and not a lot of options. Or maybe because food is heavy and they don't like maduros, tostones or the plethora of foods made with plantains. But saying that it's not latino/hispanic enough? GTFOH. Who are they to judge? PPs are people from the Midwest or NE who think Latin America is 100% natives on pyramids. And hate on Panama for not being latino? Americans have odd, outdated stereotypes about Latin America, and are clearly taken aback when cities in the region are modern, international banking centers.

Oh, I forgot about Pigeon Forge. We were planning to stay a day or two on our way back from Atlanta. We stayed a few hours and that was enough. And I say this as someone who has a vacation home in Ocean City. At least there is a beach there. Pigeon Forge is just bizarre.

I was really underwhelmed by Belize. The sand flies were horrific and the food wasn’t good at all. Honestly just a bit farther north into Mexico was a lot better.
