Where did you absolutely hate?

Huh? This makes no sense. I never thought that about PR and have lived in numerous LATAM countries and speak Spanish.

No it's actually perfect metaphor. It's easy and dependable but it's just...not as nice as you actually want.

I think that's my confusion. As a Latina, I don't know anyone who thinks Taco Bell is easy and dependable. admittedly, I don't know anyone who eats there.
Oddly, I do think PR has a big impact in latino culture for a tiny island nation. I guess if you're just there for a weekend and don't know any locals or language, it may not be as fun as Cancun, eg.
I'm wondering what you found nice in LATAM, though. And if you say Costa Rica, I'll have my answer to all this.

Las Vegas - agree with all the PPs who said the gambling, overconsumption, and expensive and/or terrible food was a total turn off. Its the only place I’ve ever showed up to the airport so easy they wouldn’t let me through TSA.

I loved Seoul and Jeju, though, if anyone is thinking of heading to Asia.

(Also had a great two days in Tokyo and wish we'd had more time there.)

Wow. Just got back from Korea and Buson was my favorite place! It’s beautiful and full of life. Saw an amazing drone show on the beach and did a wonderful temple hike. Loved it. To each their own…

Not PP but I loved Cartagena, Colombia and Buenos Aires, Argentina.

I feel guilty saying this, but I really disliked my time in Israel (I am Jewish). I went on a Birthright trip - maybe I would have liked it more if I were travelling on my own.

It can be very jarring for non-Indians. It takes me some time to get used to whenever I visit and I was born and raised there.

Anonymous wrote:I found Tijuana to be depressing. A bunch of strip clubs and places to buy knockoff pills. Outside the main strip, the neighborhood was very poor and gave off menacing vibes. Seemed like they don’t like Americans. Which given the drunken idiots that visit, I don’t blame them, but nothing about the place appealed to me.

The area surrounding Asheville was awesome as was the neighborhoods along the river. The core downtown was full of drug addicts.

Don't feel bad hating TJ. Mexicans and most border residents also hate TJ. I grew up near the border and would never go to TJ. Most Mexicans view the border area the way Americans see Alabama or Mississippi. No one actually goes there unless you're from there bc poverty and crime.

I thought Miami was kind of depressing.

Wow where did you stay?

We stayed at a resort in Peninsula Papagayo in Guanacaste and it was incredible. Like extremely luxury. And we went and did the zip line there and it was fantastic

Yeah, I don’t know what PP was thinking. Everyone knows Tijuana is the worst—it’s basically always been where Americans go to do things they don’t want to get caught doing in the U.S. and then recently you add in the human trafficking and fentanyl trade. It would be weird if you didn’t hate TJz

Mykonos. Was stranded on Paros because of rough seas; the first boat went to Mykonos. I couldn’t wait to catch the next boat to Siros.
St. Tropez. Like Mykonos overcrowded, overpriced and overhyped. At least it was easy to leave.

Not a Miami fan. Was especially unimpressed by South Beach.

Las Vegas. Times Square.

And I hated Uzbekistan although there was some really amazing historical sites. People were really rude (Soviet level service) and seemed to hate tourists (although they certainly were not overrun with tourists), very sexist, totally corrupt government. Got food poisoning, detained by police (looking for a bribe), and sexually assaulted in a crowded market place full of women who did absolutely nothing to help me. Oh and our flight out was cancelled so we had to extend our stay. It really made me resistant to going anywhere in Central Asia again and made me think differently about traveling generally and what I’m willing to tolerate.

And I love Mexico but agree Cancun is the worst.

Can’t really think of any other places that I hate.

The vacation place I hated everyone else loved was Aruba. IMHO too western, commercial, generic, and windy.

/ love europe and the carib overall just not those spots

I'm with you sister. Aruba is a hot he1l hole with crazy big goats and no grass.

+1
I was going to say the same thing. We stayed at a pricey hotel where there were not enough pool/beach chairs for guests, and I got food poisoning. No thank you

I didn't hate it, but wouldn't return to Paraguay.
