Don't get me wrong I enjoyed it all, that lady who with that very stodgy military band was fabulous, the opera singer was someone I want to hear more of and the torch bearer were people I would like to learn more about, but this all had to be intentional. We didn't see much Arab/N. African representation. Why the deliberate black representation?

What?! France is a multicultural society and a former colonizer. There are black people everywhere in France, fool.

The one Beyoncé clone was from Mali, for example. Mali was at one time a French colony. Much of Africa is Francophone.

Calling someone a fool is considered extremely rude by the way (the bible even tells people not to do it)

Yes I know there are lots of black people in France and in its current and former territories. I didn’t say the representation was inappropriate or overdone. I acknowledged however that it is deliberate, and as a student of political science and sociology, just curious as to why. I am not complaining about what I saw.

+1 to French rapper Rim'K, in a red-and-black checkered jacket by Louis Vuitton, performed a song called "King."

I am the one who posted about Snoop's misogyny and I don't think he should be there but why are you pretending he is not a clear speaker?

Thanks for telling us his name because NBC sure did not.

So far this is the most boring Olympic ceremony I’ve seen.

Because to me he was not.

Exactly!! Why him? They could have let the scientists responsible for the COVID vaccine carry the torch!

Are they French? Even if not they still would have been a better choice.

Yeah, since at least an audience could travel to this Olympics, thanks to them.

Snoop is not French!?
neither is Ozympic Kelly or any of the other U.S. who haws.

I had such high hopes for this opening ceremony, especially having recently been to Paris. I was excited to see all the sights again. However, this one disappointed. It seemed very disjointed and disorganized. I thought London did a MUCH better job showing the history of the British Isles, etc. This one was bizarre.

I did like Joan of Arc and the horse though.

What generation likes him? Not the very young or old.

This is why NBC should not have hired him because black women remember his misogyny and white women are playing all sorts of mental and verbal gymnastics to pretend they have never of this popular 90s figure in their entire life.

In what way? Did he speak too softly? Mumble? Speak too quickly? What was it?

What do you mean “it was deliberate?” What are you trying to say? They also had a heavy metal band of white guys. And Lady Gaga and Celine Dion.

You aren’t making any sense at all.

I did not like it. At all. There were some interesting/visually spectacular moments, but overall it lacked focus and cohesiveness. It was probably much better live, but watching it on TV just seemed….disjointed.
