AOS AET admissions decisions this week?

It is tough for lot of kids who are naturally smart and interested kids receiving rejection emails. My DD is a class topper and was scoring almost perfect score in the practice tests and was equally confident for the exam.

She is in dilemma now as to what could have gone wrong. According to her - AOS website has a selection criteria listed for both AOS and AET that does not specify lottery being used.

Why were you when they were changing the admissions process from merit to equity based? Now, diversity takes precedence over merit. A panel essentially handpicks
the applicant pool to satisfy a diversity chart. The number selected is few more than needed, and all names go into a bowl. Names are drawn, offers get sent, and rest go on the waitlist.

This is a cycle we go through every few years. Raise the equity flag where selection is based on pure merit, change composition to admit/recruit based on ethnicity, run the institution/company to the ground, clean house, rehire based on pure merit. Repeat cycle.

Bumping with hopes of some waitlist movement tomorrow

When did the first round of waitlist acceptances start getting sent out last year?

There isn't a first or subsequent rounds as such, they are rolling offers, as and when they become available along the way until August school start. Typically, after an offer is declined, the next ranked waitlisted applicant is extended the offer within one to two business days. They are given about two to three business days to accept or decline the offer. If the offer is sent out during summer break, they may receive a few more days to respond. There was someone on this thread who mentioned being on a long vacation and not being able to check email; not sure how they got their situation resolved.

Anyone received any updates on the movement of the wait list ?

Nothing from AOS but some parents at out school and a nearby school received admissions e-mails from TJ. The one kid I thought was a lock received nothing.

I thought TJ results won't be out until mid to late April. Can we confirm if TJ results are out for all?

Are TJ offers out ? If that is the case , hopefully there will be movements with the waitlist

I received the below response when I contacted the Admissions office today -
Thank you for contacting the Office of Admissions & Outreach. The waitlist process is ongoing and will continue through the first day of school in the fall. (SY 2024-2025). Students will be offered admissions from the waitlist as seats become available. It is impossible to predict how many students will be admitted from the waitlist. We will offer a number of seats from the waitlist, but not all on the waitlist will be offered admission.

My DD got off the waitlist today!! From the looks of it, that means her test score was one of the top-ranked from her school.

Here's the email she got:

Congratulations! Everyone on waitlist are the best from their school, but there is a ranking order. It is unlikely the ranking order is based solely on their test score. Selection committee has access to everything on student profile, including course history, grade reports, SOL scores, reading/math assessment history for all grades, etc... everything you see in parentvue/studentvue. The detailed criteria they use, and how comprehensive it is beyond the test, is not disclosed. Equity & diversity plays a significant role. We received the exact same email, word for word, so they probably use the same template for sending out an offer.
