Anyone news about waitlist folks getting an email this week ?
My DD got off the waitlist today!! From the looks of it, that means her test score was one of the top-ranked from her school. Here's the email she got: Congratulations! You are being offered admission to attend the Academies of Loudoun as a member of the Academy of Science (AOS) program for the 2024 school year. Your history of hard work, passion for STEM education, and remarkable accomplishments demonstrate that you have the energy, dedication, and talent to flourish at the Academies of Loudoun. I hope you accept this offer. Students like you are the core of the exciting learning that happens at the Academies of Loudoun and contributes to the dynamics and innovative thinking that is characterized by our school. As you consider your options for next year, please follow the instructions below to accept or decline this offer no later than 12:00 PM Friday, April 5, 2024. Offers not accepted or declined within the allotted time will be rescinded.
Congratulations! Everyone on waitlist are the best from their school, but there is a ranking order. It is unlikely the ranking order is based solely on their test score. Selection committee has access to everything on student profile, including course history, grade reports, SOL scores, reading/math assessment history for all grades, etc... everything you see in parentvue/studentvue. The detailed criteria they use, and how comprehensive it is beyond the test, is not disclosed. Equity & diversity plays a significant role. We received the exact same email, word for word, so they probably use the same template for sending out an offer.
