This sounds like a great approach; you know so early! |
Yes, that is why the counselors at privates have traditionally told certain kids not to apply to certain schools…they may have key ones picked out for Big Donor children. The whole process stinks. |
Can you describe what type of kid fits this description? |
Maybe you should start a thread and ask DCUM to help pick the winner! |

One t10 super reach (Private) -> Accepted!
One t10 super reach (Public) One t25 reach Two t50 targets One safety |
If this is performance art, bravo!
|
| I know someone who did 80. Huge topic of conversation at our small private school. |
How? Most colleges will only allow common app and you can only do 20 in the common app. |
Coalition allows at least 20 more |
I prefer our private telling big donor kid to apply that ONE school and not gobble up 12 spots. And then letting others know which schools are less 'crowded' from our school. |
Eh. It’s OK to believe in a meritocracy. |
Would add VT and UMS yo IS non-flagships |
Yes, that’s how they usually handle it. Got a problem? Go to a different private |
There are a few black high schools in the south whose advisors mistakenly encourage this kind of thing to get public attention (black high school student accepted to 100 schools!) but the. The school sits back and realizes such behavior only hurts the cohorts. |
Sorry, we would’ve put VT in the flagship category (merely our opinion…kinda like NCSU/UNC or GT/UGA) but it didn’t really have the program(s) of interest. What is “UMS”? |
