I think they think that calling back to their young adult years makes them sound sage, that bringing up (obviously debunked) global cooling makes global warming seem silly. Except we can see global warming happening in real time. Even that PP would be able to reflect on the cooler climate of their childhoods, more birds, more insects. More life in general.
