New Hampshire predictions

New Hampshire was a great sign for Dems. I think Haley's smart to stay in. Whether she loses SC and support, the longer she's in it as the only other GOP candidate, the more she has a shot. You just never know if and when Trump may see a surprise disaster. I don't get the feeling he's in that stable a condition emotionally, physically, legally. As the front runner if course he has momentum but staying in the game means anything could happen for Haley.

That being said I wonder if Biden can pull this re-election off. It's one thing to vote for someone who is the better if 2 evils but there's no strength in that. You're at the mercy of how much the other guy is disliked not how much you're liked. ESP if Haley becomes the challenger running v Biden, yikes. I'd have to even rethink my vote even though I'm not on board with her or GOP platform. Will be interesting to see who their running mates are - Trump and Haley. I think Trump DeSantis would be strong. Even Trump Haley. I am not GOP but the Biden Kamala ticket does not make me happy at all.

Trump Haley or Trump desantis? Can you say abortion bans? Go for it if that floats your boat but that would be truly terrible and would depress the birthrate even more than the current downward trend. So unpopular and doubtful either of those tickets could win a general election.

The real winner last night was Jeb.

That's another month of attacks he's going to be forced to endure (and obviously make), which is going to require increasing amounts of energy. That's a big time gap so there will be increasing conversation to fill the space discussing his electability. We've already seen him truly melting down over the past week given his age, likely dementia, and stress of balancing a presidential election with all the criminal trials.

"Donald Trump may have won decisively in New Hampshire Tuesday night, but instead of spending his evening celebrating like he did after the Iowa caucuses, the former president spent his night seething, sources said.

Hours after the polls closed, Trump continued to rail against Nikki Haley privately and publicly after she declined to drop out of the race.

Publicly, he criticized her speech and her outfit in a post online. Privately, Trump told his aides he was baffled that she was refusing to drop out and grant him the GOP nomination, urging his political aides to up their attacks on her."

Haley should stop trying to thread the needle and just go after Trump directly. There is clearly a significant portion of the Republican Party that, for whatever reason, is tired of Trump and wants to move on. They are probably desperate for a real choice.

I think she's starting to. With DeSantis out, it's become more of a boxing match between the two. And the more sloppy punches he throws at her, the more she's counter-punching questioning his cognitive state. February is going to be a difficult month for Trump, and we're probably in store for a growing batch of really weird speech excerpts from him.

I hope Haley stays in just to annoy Trump. We also get interesting data when there’s a Trump alternative in the Republican primaries, that will be lost if she drops out. The general election will probably come down to how the Republicans and independents who didn’t want Trump end up voting.

That's been a very interesting data point. Nearly 50% of the voters aren't falling over themselves to vote Trump. Trump will likely get a big percentage of them in the general, but how many of them will vote Biden or just sit out. It's becoming clear that there's an emerging voting demographic that is tired of his act and/or won't morally compromise themselves with that vote.

Of course, the idea is to derail Trump. But NH has too many angry white guys

DW and I almost always vote Dem. Looking at the VA primary we are considering voting for Haley as a vote against Trump.

In a Presidential contest of Biden v Trump, our votes go to Biden without question. If it’s Biden v Haley I think DW’s vote might go to Haley.

I'm very liberal- but as a woman in my mid forties? Haley has my vote. im in Wisconsin and I'v already started persuading every woman I know to vote for haley as well. I disagree with haley but I will vote for her b/c I think this is how we do it- the only way to get s female president is a republican and if that breaks the trump fever dream and the gop goes back to having rand Paul as resident nut job and mtg as a strom Thurmond stand in, im ok with that.

I can't stand the gas lighting im getting from the dems re:gaza, id rather be told the truth, ugly as it is, and I really think people in their dotage shouldn't make up the majority. if you are eligible for SS-go home and write your memoirs!

They would have to switch their registration to Republican or Independent to vote in the Republican Primary. Where is any evidence that Democrats did so?

Please consider her stance on abortion and think of women younger than you. What good is having a woman President if all US women don’t have full rights.

Objectively Biden is doing a great job. Lots of generally false scare mongering talk, and I get that that’s the only thing a lot of voters ever hear or listen to; but more aware and serious voters will look at the whole picture.

I heard an interview with the author of this piece. This story isn’t about a single person. This guy is a symbol of white men (and women) all over the country.

Voting woman at any cost is wrong. Women’s lives are literally on the line. It’s telling that Republicans accused women of voting for Hillary instead of Trump just because she’s a woman (as if), but now want women to just that even though this time it means giving up women’s rights instead of gaining them.

They can keep telling themselves that. Time will tell. Glad she’s staying in the race. Can’t stand her policies but we must keep that madman from ever holding power again.

DP. Actually, it is her stance on abortion that means that I might vote for her and if I don't, will be comfortable with her being president. She is not anti choice and is not in favor of a national ban. The Dems can put together a national choice bill. They're good for it.
