Also too, population growth. It has twice as many people as it had in 1970. |

To folks earlier in thread who were speculating whether De Dantis dropped out suddenly due to Trump goons having dirt on him or just realized his loss was likely and wanting to set himself up well for a run in 2028 - it does sound like Trump had dirt on him and is threatening Haley as well. I suspect they had dirt on Scott as we - or promised his the lousy Trump VP job. That nearly cost Pence his life.
Trump’s 2024 NH victory speech and follow up social media posts were menacing Mob Boss in rambling angry tones. Haley won 9 delegates compared to Trump’s 12 in NH. Trump “rage-posted” about Haley’s speech after her strong finish with posts such as “NIKKI CAME IN LAST, NOT SECOND!” at 2 am that night. From Heather Cox Richardson blog - “In addition to attacking her from the podium, Trump appeared to threaten her when he warned her about “very dishonest people” she would have to fight. He said she was not going to win, “but if she did, she would “be under investigation…in fifteen minutes and I could tell you five reasons why already. Not big reasons, a little stuff that she doesn’t want to talk about, but she will be under investigation within minutes, and so would Ron have been, but he decided to get out.” The tactics Trump might have been suggesting became clear this afternoon, when the chair of the Arizona Republican Party, Jeff DeWit, resigned after a recording that appeared to show him trying to bribe Arizona Senate candidate and fervent Trump supporter Kari Lake to stay out of the Senate race was leaked to the press. The tape itself was clearly contrived to show Lake as if she were in a campaign ad, defending Trump and America, but it includes DeWit’s pleas for her to stand aside for two years, presumably while the Arizona party regroups with less extremist candidates, and his request that she name her price.” |
Trump continues to show his true mob boss colors and pundits and too many folks here act as if this is acceptable behavior for a President. IT IS NOT. FOLKS are also trying to frame his 11 point win as weak. IT IS NOT. He’s the first Republican to EVER win both Iowa & NH. He won in all but one county. This man is incredibly dangerous. He should be no where near the WH. I really, really hope Hayley finds her ⚽️ 🏀 🏈 and seriously takes him on instead of this, “I’ll just campaign on how great Trump is and hope he croaks” thing she is running. She has a chance to take him out. GOP voters have a chance to prove they are “not all MAGA.” We’ll know more in a month. |
Well, to be fair, every other incumbent Republican president won both Iowa and New Hampshire. Since most Republicans believe Trump actually won the 2020 election, he is essentially running as the de facto incumbent. |
And this is why we’re in this situation. Haley is all over the place on abortion and it is very disturbing. She stated that she would sign a National abortion ban! Voters don’t do their due diligence! Confirmed facts. If you choose to blindly vote for someone when you have no clue where they stand on issues, you’re part of the problem. CONTRADICTION: “Yes, I’m unapologetically pro-life. … I am fine with a federal law [banning abortion]” Previously: “The issue of abortion should be up to individuals, rather than the government” Previously “I think abortion is personal for every woman and man in America, and it needs to be treated that way” Previously: “I would have signed a six-week ban on abortion into law if I were still governor” |
Hate Hayley but would love for her to be the nominee. I think Biden will beat her because she'd lose the MAGA vote. Still, I can live with anyone other than Trump. Anyone. |

Biden results.
A landslide 64% win Nearly fifty points above the next candidate (vs. eleven for Trump) Shattered official turnout projections by 38% (vs flat for GOP) More votes in the NH primary than any Democratic sitting President in history. 27,981 more votes than President Obama received in 2012 in the NH primary (when he was on the ballot!) Double the Democratic primary turnout as the last time a President ran for re-election. |
