My point obviously is that he uses his status in a minority religion as a convenient cudgel and to justify his behavior.

Would you say the same about a wealthy black donor who decided to speak up and refuse to continue donating upon the discovery that the university had no problem with protesters screaming ugly things about black people and allowing black people to be harassed? We'll wait while you twist yourself into a pretzel, trying to answer.

Ackman didn't just speak up and withhold donations. He basically said Gay was only hired bc of DEI considerations, stirred up an online mob against her for plagiarism and is now using his wife's outing to go after an entire university faculty. He's not principled and I am not twisting myself into a pretzel. But he sure is.

Why are you defending this guy? He's quite repugnant for a variety of reasons.

I mean there seems to be not a lot of hard evidence for Gay’s credentials at this point. A shockingly high percentage of her thin academic history was plagiarized. We can all read the plagiarism and it was extensive. She’s ultimately in charge of student disciplinary actions where they would be punished a lot more than she was if they had done the same thing. (Not my analysis, read the Harvard Crimson.

Why are you so dedicated to ignoring the facts here?

Also, if there are other academics that have cheated to the same extent as Gay, I don’t really have a problem with identifying that cheating. Frankly most faculty should welcome the sunlight; right now their scrambling to condemn Ackman just seems to confirm what is becoming increasingly obvious: that academia is filled with cheaters.

And when Ackman finds them he will serve them all with divorce papers. All of them except Oxman. Because he has already forgiven her for apologizing after being exposed

Your obsession with their marriage is unhinged. You sound like a borderline stalker. So weird.

I know absolutely nothing about Ackman except what I’ve read about him in the past few weeks. I just don’t think he should be the voice of reason preaching on what’s just and morally and ethically proper in academia, that is all. I couldn’t care less about him otherwise.

He just seems like a Class A dick and seems so hateable on multiple levels. I have known people who remind me of him or how he portrays himself to be, and I hate them as well. He doesn’t seem like a genuine person. I just don’t like him. Sorry.

I'm afraid that finding faults to gain leverage over people or businesses is exactly who he is. Look at his history of corporate takeovers. He plays rough when he finds a target and steers clear of anyone who can be expected to put up a real fight. Going after teachers is easy pickings for him.

Frankly most faculty should welcome the sunlight; right now their scrambling to condemn Ackman just seems to confirm what is becoming increasingly obvious: that academia is filled with cheaters.

Academia does seem to be filled with cheaters from all walks of life, including this guy’s wife. So, all of these cheaters should be called out and have their credentials revoked. He may forgive her all he wants but she remains a cheater and it’s hypocritical of him to focus on and decry plagiarism from anyone when his soulmate is a plagiarist. He needs to climb down from his ivory tower and come to terms with this fact.

I don’t care whether he’s a hypocrite or not in his personal life. If he is exposing rampant cheating in academia, more power to him. The academy is obviously unable to police itself. When you have both the president of Harvard and Stanford resigning within years of each other because of cheating that was clearly tolerated by their institutions, there is obviously a problem.

Whether Oxman forgives his wife is irrelevant. What only matters is whether MIT does. How many other professors plagiarized their PhDs and books, and why don’t the universities care about that? They destroy the lives of undergraduates who do less than what Gay did. But their professors are sacred and untouchable?

The current academic climate is full of people who don’t really belong there and didn’t honestly earn the credentials they possess. Yea, good on Ackman for exposing them yay. But if he is truly so concerned with plagiarism why did he wait so long to finally bring this to light? This is nothing new. Why does he care now? He should care that his wife is a plagiarist because that means she is a fraud in a way, correct? She isn’t exactly who she portrays herself to be. I may be strange for thinking along these lines but I despise hypocrisy.

Why should I care how Ackman feels about his wife? Seriously why does it matter? I care about the apparently rampant cheating in academia and if he exposes that, all the better. I’m fine with him paying to run all books and theses of current professors at elite institutions through anti-plagiarism software, for instance. That’s a public service. He had no ability to hire or fire them so let him expose the cheaters.

What he thinks about his wife is irrelevant to me.

Well at least you’re straight up admitting you sound insane.

What’s insane is directly plagiarizing wiki articles and getting away with it. I was never smug enough or dumb enough to believe I could directly quote Wikipedia and then believe I honestly earned a degree. That’s truly insane.

Eeeehhh.....not really.

Ackman and wife are BS artists it seems. Just entitled wealthy self righteous jerks. She needs to have her credentials revoked.

She's a school teacher. Not important enough for anyone to care. Not powerful enough to merit any punishment.

Her doctoral dissertation should be rescinded and therefore her doctoral degree as well. She will be a fake doctor just like Jill.

For some morning entertainment with your coffee, head over to Twitter and check out Ackman's latest tweets. Several days ago he announced he was going after the MIT president and the entire faculty. Today he threatening indirectly to go after the owner and other employees of the media company that runs Business Insider, the media company that exposed his own wife's plagiarism. He's doxxing them by providing their names. I can't wait to see who he goes after tomorrow.

I can never seem to post tweets correctly on this website so here's the link:

And you want Gay’s revoked too? So Gay then loses any ability to work in academia? Please clarify.

Okay, that’s a reasonable position to take, then.
