Yes, and if he’s off tantruming in the corner, we are just moving on and he’s not learning anything. Nothing I can do.

That’s true. And all kids alive in March 2020 in the US who are still alive really are GenerationCOVID, marked indelibly by the pandemic. It’s not right to expect them to consider anything other than their first or worse impulse in anything.

When parents can stop tantrumming about how they actually had to spend time with their kids, we can ask the kids to stop tantrumming.

They don’t need zero expectations and doe everyone to assume they are just going to act like animals their whole lives, that just screws them over even more. Even kids who have undergone serious trauma (I have worked with a lot of kids with BIPs) learn manners.
