Sadly, MCPS has always had the students self-segregate and they continue to. Instead of bring students and families together they are pushing them further apart. Kids shouldn't be blamed for their ancestry as they had nothing to do with it nor can change what happened.

The kids can change what happens going forward, but the right doesn’t want them to do it frightens white and Asian parents with the DEI boogeyman.

Do you raise how much racism is against Jews and Asians in mcps. Why does it scare you to admit racism is more than just white people being racist against blacks. And minorities are the majority at many MoCo’s schools.

I've heard some posters claim the race-blind magnet selection process that picks mostly Asians is racist against Asians.
Well, the magnet selection process was changed to increase the number of black and Hispanic kids in the program. Instead of harming white people like they wanted to, Asians were caught in the crossfire and took almost all of the impact.

Why do you think the intent was to harm Whites? That’s a wild claim considering that the number of White boys with disabilities greatly increased under the new process.
Because MCPS openly talks about whiteness as being bad, wants to decenter whiteness, and lessen white privilege. And several MCPS schools held up CRT author Kendi as the answer to racism. If you're not familiar with Kendi, he says discrimination against whites is a necessary component of anti-racism.

It’s true that being white and “white privilege” are negatives. There is a shame that comes with being white. I don’t know if this is actively being taught in the schools or if kids are just picking it up from the media or social media.

It's very dangerous. I think there's a lot of well-intentioned white (and biopic) people pushing this narrative because they think it rights history that don't understand how dangerous this way of thinking can be. Their ancestors would tell them. Looking at actual history might also offer a clue. Looking at places in the world that have fallen into this trap might also do some good.

I just want to congratulate all you well-intentioned people again for inventing a white cause. What was once fringe lunatics sitting off in Idaho is becoming something much more terrifying.
Exactly. I'm white and wokes have made me acutely aware of systemic racism against white people in the form of affirmative action, racial equity, minority affinity groups, etc. I'm far less sympathetic than I used to be knowing the DEI system is trying to drag me down.

The Wokes are trying to take away all the stuff my grandparents managed accumulate for me. It's not fair!

You mean some white people's grandparents accumulated for them. My grandparents came over on the boat. But that's irrelevant to progressives. You just want an excuse to usher in a more Marxist system.

We don't need to look up the definition of racism. You've given us a great example right here by lumping all white people together and all black people together. Absolutely disgusting. And of course DEI oppresses white people as well as Asians by excluding us and discriminating against us.

I think the issue is strong family units. Progressives don’t like them because marginalized people tend to have weaker family units. Stronger family units make stronger kids, students, athletes, economics, etc…

if they can isolate people from their family strength, they somehow see this as leveling the playing field in school, admissions, wealth, etc…

The reality is that will never happen because strong families will continue to thrive and so will their children no matter how many DEI initiatives are used to discriminate against these non-URM groups. Wokes should focus all their energy on helping the disadvantaged build strong nuclear families.

White people can certainly be a minority depending on context. White people growing up in SE do not have the same “lived experience” as white people growing up in suburban Ohio. It’s almost like painting with such a broad brush based on skin color is a form of prejudiced thinking and does anybody think that is a good way to treat others who they don’t know?

There is also a huge assumption that all the whites who are in this country now had ancestors in this country during slavery or even the civil rights, which isn't true. It also assumes that every white person was wealthy and owned slaves, and the reality is very few owned slaves. It also assumes that all whites supported slavery, which also wasn't true. It likewise assumes that only whites were involved in slavery, which isn't true, or that only the US was involved in the slave trade, which also wasn't true.
No no. None of that is true. I mean, what you said is true. But that's irrelevant to critical race theorists. They say the system is racist and therefore, benefits white people today. Furthermore, they say that the only way forward is to dismantle the system and rebuild it using racial equity (everyone ends up even). This is insane and would destroy western civilization.

The woke movement played by the book.

Brainwashing definition from Britannica:

A systematic effort to persuade nonbelievers to accept a certain allegiance, command, or doctrine. A colloquial term, it is more generally applied to any technique designed to manipulate human thought or action against the desire, will, or knowledge of the individual. By controlling the physical and social environment, an attempt is made to destroy loyalties to any unfavourable groups or individuals, to demonstrate to the individual that his attitudes and patterns of thinking are incorrect and must be changed, and to develop loyalty and unquestioning obedience to the ruling party.

The term is most appropriately used in reference to a program of political or religious indoctrination or ideological remolding. The techniques of brainwashing typically involve isolation from former associates and sources of information; an exacting regimen requiring absolute obedience and humility; strong social pressures and rewards for cooperation; physical and psychological punishments for non-cooperation ranging from social ostracism and criticism, deprivation of food, sleep, and social contacts, to bondage and torture; and continual reinforcement.

The nature of brainwashing as it occurred in communist political prisons received widespread attention after the Chinese Communist victory in 1949 and after the Korean and Vietnamese wars. More recently, its reported use in fringe religious cults and radical political groups has aroused concern in the United States.”

McWhorter makes a similar assertion in his book Woke Racism. He even goes so far as to say that wokes are like religious fundamentalists in how staunch their beliefs are.

Lol.
Your post is confusing. At first you say that white people aren't being oppressed by DEI. But then you spend the rest of your post laying out how white people are dumped on by DEI. Do you not see the connection?

An annoying, off putting training is not the same thing as oppression.

I mean, not only does it have the potential to pit kids in a diverse environment against each other due to their ancestry, it's intellectually lazy. They're not actually learning anything if all thats the only fact they need to know, the one that explains everything.

Lol, it must be nice and tidy in your brain to think all white people have well-to-do ancestors. My parents both grew up dirt poor; one side came over in the early 1800s, the other around 1900 and my parents still had nothing until my dad signed up for the military and clawed his way out.

OK, so when they say they want to hire fewer white people and ignore what white people have to say, that's not oppression?
