Sadly, MCPS has always had the students self-segregate and they continue to. Instead of bring students and families together they are pushing them further apart. Kids shouldn't be blamed for their ancestry as they had nothing to do with it nor can change what happened.

The kids can change what happens going forward, but the right doesn’t want them to do it frightens white and Asian parents with the DEI boogeyman.

Do you raise how much racism is against Jews and Asians in mcps. Why does it scare you to admit racism is more than just white people being racist against blacks. And minorities are the majority at many MoCo’s schools.

I've heard some posters claim the race-blind magnet selection process that picks mostly Asians is racist against Asians.
Well, the magnet selection process was changed to increase the number of black and Hispanic kids in the program. Instead of harming white people like they wanted to, Asians were caught in the crossfire and took almost all of the impact.

Why do you think the intent was to harm Whites? That’s a wild claim considering that the number of White boys with disabilities greatly increased under the new process.
Because MCPS openly talks about whiteness as being bad, wants to decenter whiteness, and lessen white privilege. And several MCPS schools held up CRT author Kendi as the answer to racism. If you're not familiar with Kendi, he says discrimination against whites is a necessary component of anti-racism.

It’s true that being white and “white privilege” are negatives. There is a shame that comes with being white. I don’t know if this is actively being taught in the schools or if kids are just picking it up from the media or social media.
A member of the MCPS equity team defined whiteness as a system of oppression in a teacher seminar almost 4 years ago. With MCPS's push for equity and anti-racism, this can't have improved. And several schools actively push Kendi's brand of anti-racism which is anti-white (and probably anti-Asain). Kendi says racial discrimination against whites is a necessary component of anti-racism in his book HTBAA-R. These are just the things I know about. Who knows what else they're doing?

They need to stop playing these games with our tax dollars and get back to educating our children.

BREAKING News!!!!!

This just in, grownups have to sit through low budget (but expensive) HR video pushed down their throats by management. A secret source states reports of yawns and eye rolls though out the audience.

If this were a stupid DEI training that MCPS put on as a one-off box to check, you’re right. This wouldn’t be that big of a deal though it still would be worthy of the criticism it has received.

But this PD is central to MCPS’s mission according to leadership and is where it is placing immense resources and measures, according to their testimony to the board and county council.

if only Mcknight and the CO were more focused on educating children than these societal issues.
To be fair, if they were actually focused on fixing societal issues, that wouldn't be terrible. But they are focused on increasing central office staff and creating projects/programs that sounds like they will fix societal issues but actually do more harm than good. Examples: equity lowers standards, anti-racism is racist, pretending to not know what a woman is hurts women, and busing causes headaches for everyone.

Meh. It’s not really the school system’s job to fix societal issues.

The main mission of MCPS should be educating our kids to meet basic standards. Which is clearly not happening.

Leave the other stuff to other public agencies. Plenty of non-profits and government agencies to deal with the other societal issues.

I know, right? We need to educate our kids about society's issues so they can grow up and do meaningful, thoughtful work on them.

Sure. Check out the MCPS equity team's twitter feeds. Not just the official one but the members' personal pages. You'll find all kinds of anti-white racism there. And Cabin John MS's principal is a huge Kendi fan. When school was virtual he ordered a school wide read of Stamped and had his teachers giving lessons on Kendi's brand of anti-racism which, as I said above is anti-white and most likely anti-Asian.

It's very dangerous. I think there's a lot of well-intentioned white (and biopic) people pushing this narrative because they think it rights history that don't understand how dangerous this way of thinking can be. Their ancestors would tell them. Looking at actual history might also offer a clue. Looking at places in the world that have fallen into this trap might also do some good.

I just want to congratulate all you well-intentioned people again for inventing a white cause. What was once fringe lunatics sitting off in Idaho is becoming something much more terrifying.

Where do you see a statement about being racist against Black people? Seems like all YOU can think about is Black and white.

Judaism isn’t a race. There’s anti-Semitism in MCPS, but it’s against Jews of all races.

Black and white are also, technically, not races.

Definitions of race change all the time because it's a nebulous concept. Race can mean a tribe, a phenotype, a geographic origin. Or an identity, which is the most nebulous thing of all. We've reached a point where people are trotting out their Agentinian great grandmothers to "prove" they're actually bipoc. I don't know how this ends but I don't like how it's going.

Exactly. I'm white and wokes have made me acutely aware of systemic racism against white people in the form of affirmative action, racial equity, minority affinity groups, etc. I'm far less sympathetic than I used to be knowing the DEI system is trying to drag me down.

I think the notion that white people are being oppressed by DEI to be absurd. However, the DEI world is also ridiculous the way it treats white people. I don't know what their goal is other than to create budding white nationalists. If you want people to join your cause maybe don't force them to spend hours listening to you bash them after telling them not to be "defensive" and to not "put the burden" on you by asking questions. Lol.

There is also a huge assumption that all the whites who are in this country now had ancestors in this country during slavery or even the civil rights, which isn't true. It also assumes that every white person was wealthy and owned slaves, and the reality is very few owned slaves. It also assumes that all whites supported slavery, which also wasn't true. It likewise assumes that only whites were involved in slavery, which isn't true, or that only the US was involved in the slave trade, which also wasn't true.

Your post is confusing. At first you say that white people aren't being oppressed by DEI. But then you spend the rest of your post laying out how white people are dumped on by DEI. Do you not see the connection?

No no. None of that is true. I mean, what you said is true. But that's irrelevant to critical race theorists. They say the system is racist and therefore, benefits white people today. Furthermore, they say that the only way forward is to dismantle the system and rebuild it using racial equity (everyone ends up even). This is insane and would destroy western civilization.
