Youngkin is willing to spend a billion dollars to attract the teams but not a penny to ensure people can, you know, actually get there.

Youngkin is such trash.

Yes, what a trashy thing to bring huge economic development to his state. But you love Wes Moore and his budget deficits, right?

With a total disregard for residents, zero neighborhood outreach, planning for the crime this will bring, and footing the 1 billion on taxpayers? Yes, Youngkin is out of touch trash.

The WP is likely correct, so city will not have access to the space for housing or other projects

And where do you think the crime is coming from? It’s not Virginia.

You’re either new to Alexandria or you weren’t paying attention more than 20 years ago when the strip mall opened. It was always going to be a temporary placeholder for a HUGE urban development with thousands of units in very tall buildings. The stadium is a new wrinkle, but it accelerates the development.

Virginia and the City will be able to tax the heck out of Monumental so this might not cost the taxpayers as much as Youngkin’s detractors secretly hope.

I agree on the 2nd high school but it should be in the west side and not the east.

Virginia is offering $1 billion. This is great for crystal city hotel and restaurants because they won’t be saddled with extra taxes to pay for Alexandria’s albatross.

Sixty seven years here and nothing has been done. I watched three or generations be born into it. Everyone must suffer.

You think it hasn't been spilling over into VA? This will fastrack it.

No one even asked us. No community outreach AT ALL. City council will definitely approve this regardless of what citizens say. The question is will this FINALLY wake people up to how dangerous it can be to have unchecked city council and no sense of balance. Stop rubber stamping yes votes for dems for city council.

Can finally city council face consequences next November!

Any council member that votes for this, will not have my vote.

The zero community outreach is telling how much this deal is actually for the city and state revenue. It's all about billionaire profit, plain and simple.

No one in Alexandria or Arlington voted for Youngkin so what does he care?

Exactly. He doesn't give an F about affected constituents, which is precisely the point of Youngkin's massive douchebaggery.

Literally not a peep from Alexandria. Story has been out for at least 36 hours and not a single council member has said a word. Mayor silent. Vice Mayor silent. City Manager silent.

Not even a comment from those that claim to be from here.

You guys are trash.

I strongly agree. The Russians and trump were definitely involved.

Take your meds and stop responding to your own posts.

DC deserves it for not taking the crime/homeless situation in Chinatown seriously.

The Lerner family must be psyched. They can now ask for a retractable dome and a tank full of sharks with laser beams on their heads. The city now has zero negotiating power.
