FBI HQ in PG!

Perhaps the employees already own homes, have children in school, and/or spouses with their own commutes. “Just move to Anne Arundel” isn’t helpful.

Companies move their HQ, and the employees have to deal with it. FBI is no different in that respect.

At least politics in PG and Maryland will get scrubbed clean. That's a positive.

My company is moving an entire cost center out of the area to other states clear out west, and a different country across the Atlantic.

Many of the employees own homes here. At least the FBI HQ move is still somewhat commutable.

Remember when Trump wanted to move the USDA to Kansas? FBI move is nothing like that, at least.

Half of them quit and were never replaced. We just lost some functionality of the US government, the reports they used to put out, that people used to use and rely on, don't get done anymore.

Why do you think FBI agents are different?

Because moving from an office from DC to Greenbelt, Maryland, is not like moving an office from DC to Kansas City, Missouri.

This decision has been years in the making. It’s not based on spite but on legitimate cost and security concerns. It’s completely different.

Wherever people live or move to in the future, Quantico is in Virginia and it's not moving.

Springfield was always the obvious choice.

With the letter from Wray getting the GSA problems out in the open (and also Ivanka's timely GSA testimony related to the Old Post Office Sale issues) - it's good to see Option 3 coming up. Fix the building (renovate or replace) on Pennsylvania Avenue and then use satellite offices around the region, like every other agency does. There are lots and lots of empty office buildings that can be converted as needed.

I do wish Maryland invested more in realistic transportation. I moved from Fairfax co to MD and I'm so envious of all the added lanes to 495, 66, and 95 in VA. I frequently drive with my kids with me, so personally I love the HOT lanes.

The areas around tysons and the like 20 lanes of traffic is an absolute hellscape.

That is literally what I think ("omg this is HELL") every time I drive there, which fortunately I don't have to do very often. As a Marylander, I sincerely hope we're not going to emulate Virginia's example.

This is what I think when I drive on one of the lanes of I-270 and multiple people weave past changing 4+ lanes at a time going 100 miles per hour. Where are your state troopers?

I thought this was NOT an option for many reasons, one of which is that the old site was going to be swapped to the contractor for the new building. Also FBI handles more sensitive information than other agencies and they want almost everyone on one campus.

That is also hell, but of a different sort. Doing to 270 what Virginia did to 495/66/95 would not solve this problem, in fact it would make it worse.

Stop with the childish temper tantrums.

Any thoughts on what will happen to the old building downtown?

The building itself is not safe. The building needs to be demoed. After that, it can be sold or reassigned to some other organization which can design/build a building appropriate for their use.
