FBI HQ in PG!

Yeah right. Any move from PG now will get the racism charge.

Nobody is going to think it’s worth being smeared.

Isn't Springfield in Fairfax County where the County seat is Fairfax? That city whose mayor was distributing meth through a website used by gay men to arrange casual sexual encounters? https://www.wusa9.com/article/news/crime/former-fairfax-city-mayor-drug-charges-police-say/65-ffa28727-58c2-4380-b93d-a355c05c01bc

It seems like the FBI would have a lot to clean up in Springfield, much more so than Greenbelt. But hey, if the FBI wants to be closer to meth heads and horrible traffic, they can go for it.

That was one pervert in the Fairfax mayor’s office. Crime seems more pervasive in PG, including in county government where pay to play corruption goes back decades.

It was the mayor.

So tired of the Politics Hour on WAMU turning itself into a platform for bitter VA pols to whine and cry about FBI going to Greenbelt.

Stop misrepresenting this. Since 2010, when Rushern Baker took office, both Rushern Baker's administration and Angela Alsobrooks administration have worked very hard to change the policies and procedures of the county. That corruption you keep harping on hasn't existed for over a decade.

All this is sour grapes from Virginia. The FBI decision has been revisited twice and twice Greenbelt has been chosen. Talk about changing the conditions of qualification. Greenbelt was the recommended site prior to Trump canceling the selection. Then instead of going back with that decision, they made the GSA start again, and once again GSA selected Greenbelt and Virginia is whining.

The GSA put out a 38 page document showing exactly why they saw the recommendation of the panel, but opted against that recommendation. And the arguments of both time and money saved were very clear. The FBI building is a OSHA nightmare at this point. The FBI needs to be out sooner rather than later before someone gets hurt from an infrastructure failure in the building. And the move to Greenbelt is significantly cheaper and faster to develop than Springfield.

It's going to be very hard for either Congress or the GSA IG office to refute those claims.

I think fbi hq will either be in nova or stay in dc. It will never move to md. Ever.

It's actually sour grapes from the FBI, who have good reasons to prefer Springfield and who will be significantly inconvenienced by Greenbelt. Why? For a couple million dollars? The site won't be faster - being a wetland, it will probably be slower.) That doesn't even make sense.

Fairfax County, where Springfield is located, does not have a mayor. It has a county council with 10 members.

The City of Fairfax has a mayor. Springfield is not in the City of Fairfax.

The FBI doesn’t get to choose and you’re really unclear on the facts about each site.

Greenbelt is about as close to Upper Marlboro as Springfield is to the City of Fairfax. By your logic, a city close to a place where government corruption occurred a decade plus ago should be a disqualified for the FBI HQ.

No, not unclear about the facts. Or about geography.

There is a lot more for the IG to investigate than a 38-page document.

Uh-oh. The Acting GSA IG worked as an Assistant AG in the Eastern District of Virginia for many years. Maybe he lives in Virginia, too. If his office uncovers anything untoward about the selection process, will MD dismiss the report as biased just as VA went after Nina Albert?

Honestly, neither state deserves the headquarters at this point. Keep the 750 senior staff in DC and ship everyone else to Huntsville or Colorado Springs.

I am certain whistleblowers from GSA are in contact with the IG.

In all fairness, the former mayor of the town adjacent to Greenbelt was a perv as well. Matter of fact, he lived 1/2 mile from the proposed FBI site.

Why do you hate the FBI? Is it because they investigate stuff you don't want them to, or because they don't investigate the stuff you want them to?
