Saturday - Thousands expected to attend pro-Palestine march in DC for ceasefire in Israel-Hamas war

It might be enough to make your renta-kaffiye a little too tight if you can hear their chants for what they really are.

Wow super racist. Renta-keffiyeh? Wow. Show yourself, coward.

They were supposed to be on a cease fire now and then Oct 7th happened. How can they trust a cease fire?

I agree, comment was just a retort to those saying this rally is about protesting US money to Israel and calling for a cease fire. “Intifada revolution” seems to quite different than that.

Interesting. I watched most of the rally and heard absolutely no cries for intifada.Respectfully, do you have any proof?

I was there and heard nothing about an intifada. It’s just people trying to delegitimize the free Palestine movement (and they are losing in a major way). Of course with crowds that large a few bad actors in bad faith are going to slip in but the signs and chants were all calling for a ceasefire and an end to the occupation. Anyone painting it otherwise has bad intentions and an agenda.

Thank you— I am glad to hear it!!!

Calling on a ceasefire.

Peace. Love and Happiness.

Good for you. And condemn Hamas. They are not about "peace love and happiness" ^

You seem very bitter, distressed, and angry that people don’t want to see more dead Palestinian children. Super weird and blood thirsty.

I’m sorry but ONE person does not represent hundreds of thousands. Do better.

The chant led by a woman, an official speaker, from the official stage around 2:40ish was “there is only one solution, intifada revolution” yelled into the microphone multiple times and repeated by the crowd.

It might "feel " like that because you are angry, but try ...just try to listen:

Everyone agrees that Hamas should not have killed anyone or taken hostages when they went through the fence. I personally think they just should have let the 2.5 million Palestinians walk through the fence and back to the places where their villages used to be and started chanting , " we're here , we're Palestinians, " get used to it " - kind of like the Marches in 2019 that they performed on the other side of the barbed wire in their prison.

Denying that these people were truly forced off their land and teaching these lies to every Israeli child since 1948 will never iradicate the identity of a people as Palestinian or their wanting the dignity of life on the land of their parents, grandparents and ancestors. Denying their truth is just another form of violence. They will never surrender to that . What people would ?

What people are protesting is the slaughter- this isn't a military combat of hand to hand fighting- its aerial bombardment of a civilian population and a starvation seige . The reason seems to be , again, the USA has armed one side- GIVEN them Billions of $$$ in bombs, which they are using to end a people- not an army- a people.

nearly 7,000 bombs dropped in N Gaza ( which is same size as DC ) in 1 month - that is more than on the entire country of Afghanistan in 1 year ( much larger space) . And our so called " leader" is so craven to AIPAC that he actually denies the number of children and women killed- disgraceful and completely vacuous - and , it seems, the true reflection of his character.

What the world SHOULD BE doing - instead of arming one side- set conditions where BOTH Israelis and Arabs had to live together inside Israel ( like they do pretty well in Haifa ) the USA has for decades armed Israel so that they could always counter attack the Palestinians with ferocious lethality to the point that Israel didn't need to live in Peace with the Palestinians- they could subjugate them- while the USA looked away and pretended not to see .

The USA is not a viable credible partner any longer and the UN should take over- immediately.

The Settlements on the West Bank ( 700,000 people and counting are NOT Israelis - they are Americans, Russians, South Americans and - in the Negev- it seems also about 20,000 imported Thai endentured servants- yes, farming land that was stolen from Palestinians - because apparently, no Jewish settlers or , not that many , actually wanted to farm that land that they took from the Palestinians- let that sink in.

The American Hedge funds that fund the Illegal settlements should all have their funds seized and be sanctioned for violations of International Law - and their money should go to facilitate the return of the Palestinians kicked off the West Bank these last 4 weeks.

You speak as if 10/7 was just an unfortunate choice in strategy for a noble cause.

weird and bloodthirsty = the people who planned an executed the slaughter of 1400 Israelis knowing that they would trigger a military response killing their own people. diabolical.

"Violence" has a meaning and this isn't it. Maybe this is why terrorism isn't violence to you because you use a different dictionary

I think you're confused. Are you under the impression that protesters were involved in the attack? I don't think they started anything, and are perfectly within their rights to express a desire for a ceasefire.

Are they addressing the cease fire call to Hamas? I must have missed that

We take all of you at your word. They are seeking to apply surgical, laser-precise tactics to achieve their goal. OK.

Wow, are they incompetent!

Nice stereotyping.

Ever tried to perform a surgery when the patient is hiding underneath another 100 random people?

Acts of war are not just toggling switches in an F-35 to send projectiles into a mass of humanity.

Sometimes, you have to develop and apply strategic plans that position your forces such that an objective can be achieved with minimal collateral damage. That’s not happening here.

At best, the hive mind running point on strategy here seems grossly incompetent. At worst, it seems to be the work of craven war criminals.

This would be an easier line of argument to entertain if... October 7th hadn't happened. Really, that kind of deliberate brutality needs answer.

Just say that, then. Don’t pretend that the response is concerned at all with the loss of innocent life, whether disproportionate or not.

It’s the charade where we all have to pretend that a bloodthirsty massacre isn’t happening intentionally … we don’t need that. We don’t need to collectively pretend that what we’ve been told ad nauseum is the best fighting force in the world is somehow keystone kopping their way through yet another round of blind target practice.

Did any of the protesters condemn Hamas? Serious question?

Professional agitators. The same crowd you saw 3 years ago at BLM rallies.

You need to face the music. People have been angry for a long time about how much money our govt wastes propping up a belligerent theocratic "democracy," and this might be the straw the breaks the camel's back.
