Are we at the nascent stages of WWIII?

And Russia's annexation of Crimea was in 2014. That was around the time I noticed things getting weirder and just different.

You think WWIII is because of "gender cult"?

Agree. “Gender cult?!” what does that even mean? Women and LGBTQ wanting to be treated as human beings is now a gender cult? Mmmkay.

...yeah, because people trying to use neopronouns like fae-gendered and star-gendered didn't have anything to do with Trump coming to power. Because California schools declaring that there are 50 genders didn't have anything to do with Trump coming to power.. Because coercing vulnerable, potentially autistic teenagers to taken puberty blockers or undergo life-changing surgery definitely has no underlying profit motive or misogyny driving it.

And if you truly don't see how this insanity is dividing this country socially, politically and financially in dangerous ways - and not just this country, but all countries where this cult brainwashing is going on - then you are quite literally blind to what's happening and where it could lead next.

Oh my goodness. We have “cults” alright. The ones who believe Jesus rode dinosaurs, God wants you to be filthy rich, and Trump is the second coming.

What do they all have in common? Mediocre white men who bought into their own hype, and who couldn’t hack it in the meritocracy they said they wanted. Who believed that God wanted them to be filthy rich but instead were broke due to terrible choices in an unforgiving economy. Who couldn’t get any once they couldn’t rape. In other words, the losers. Who lost again in Nov 2020 and damn near lost their minds and destroyed the country.

You need to educate yourself on what cults actually are. You're deluding yourself by privileging one outlandish idea and its thought control (the gender cult) over others (...Jesus riding dinosaurs?!), strawmanning outlandish ideas that you know your friends won't like...and frankly, I don't either - I'm not a Trump supporter, nor do actual Trump supporters think he's the "second coming".

I'm a liberal, and unlike you, I'm a highly educated one who actual deals with cults as part of my profession. The gender cult ideology is 100% a cult.

You literally have zero idea of what a cult actually is. If you're willfully blind to the gender cult, you're part of the problem. And in your self-righteousness and ignorance, you will continue to be a part of the problem. And the rest of us are going to have to deal with the fallout. Done talking to you.

NP. Please explain how it is 100% a cult. Here are characteristics of a cult. I would say the new trans ideology half heartedly meets a few of them at best. The same could be said of almost any group with a shared ideology.

The group displays an excessively zealous and unquestioning commitment to its leader, and (whether he is alive or dead) regards his belief system, ideology, and practices as the Truth, as law.

Questioning, doubt, and dissent are discouraged or even punished.

Mind-altering practices (such as meditation, chanting, speaking in tongues, denunciation sessions, or debilitating work routines) are used in excess and serve to suppress doubts about the group and its leader(s).

The leadership dictates, sometimes in great detail, how members should think, act, and feel (e.g., members must get permission to date, change jobs, or marry—or leaders prescribe what to wear, where to live, whether to have children, how to discipline children, and so forth).

The group is elitist, claiming a special, exalted status for itself, its leader(s), and its members (e.g., the leader is considered the Messiah, a special being, an avatar—or the group and/or the leader is on a special mission to save humanity).
The group has a polarized, us-versus-them mentality, which may cause conflict with the wider society.

The leader is not accountable to any authorities (unlike, for example, teachers, military commanders, or ministers, priests, monks, and rabbis of mainstream religious denominations).

The group teaches or implies that its supposedly exalted ends justify whatever means it deems necessary. This may result in members participating in behaviors or activities they would have considered reprehensible or unethical before joining the group (e.g., lying to family or friends, or collecting money for bogus charities).

The leadership induces feelings of shame and/or guilt in order to influence and control members. Often this is done through peer pressure and subtle forms of persuasion.

Subservience to the leader or group requires members to cut ties with family and friends, and radically alter the personal goals and activities they had before joining the group.

The group is preoccupied with bringing in new members.

The group is preoccupied with making money.

Members are expected to devote inordinate amounts of time to the group and group-related activities.

Members are encouraged or required to live and/or socialize only with other group members.

The most loyal members (the “true believers”) feel there can be no life outside the context of the group. They believe there is no other way to be, and often fear reprisals to themselves or others if they leave—or even consider leaving—the group.

All of those are met, and more actually. The problem is that you think
1) the activity has to be organized under one, messiah-like head honcho for these activities and attitudes to be present and pervasive
2) that it has to look cartoonish or outlandish, such as that any random observer would see it

That is not how cults historically work. That's why you, the public, don't generally figure out the religious ones until finally, decades later, enough former cult members get together with a studio and produce a documentary.

Also, all cults have a grain of truth in their ideology. Let me repeat that: all cults have a grain of truth in their ideology. That's why your previous example of Jesus riding dinosaurs was facetious. The gender cult has taken some basic truths (social conditioning affects how we view gender; there is more diversity in gender expression than old school conventions understand) and turned it into a cult.

We can go back and forth for pages and pages about this, but I'll cut it short here. I've seen too much self-righteous defense of many cults, to the point where I was fighting back groups of Internet posters multiple times, only for all of them to be like, "yeah you were right" a couple years later. I'm over it. People who don't see that a cult is operating likely won't see that it's operating until the denial becomes too painful. Until that happens, nobody can convince them that a cult is operating.

Got it—you can’t explain how it meets the majority of those criteria. I figured.

DP, but I'm a cult survivor and I completely agreed with her. It sounds like you're really invested in being right and I recognize you from my cult days.

This about sums it up for me, and it appears the far right in the US is fully on board and undermining our county from within.

I hope the liberal democracies around the world have an answer sooner than later.

And we've been hearing for years about how young men are so lost, can't find their place in the world, can't find jobs/partners, don't know what it means "to be a man" anymore. I'm certainly not hoping for any war, let alone a world-wide one, but it's not hard to see how a big war is both a natural consequence of that and a solution to it.

Right. But none would actually fight. They only cosplay. They’re the biggest whiners around.

Meh they weren't the ones whining about Covid and masks during the pandemic. And did you see the Boomers/Gen-x/Millennials storming the Capitol? You call those guys legit fighters?

shhh but if you did that then the GOP 1) would have to hold their own accountable and 2) would not be able to use it as a voting issue.

The danger of being a hated empire is when your enemies all strike at once. Opportunistic vultures picking at a feeble remnant of a country. Our arrogant foreign policy coming home to roost.

Why are you talking about imprisoning employers when legislation like this exists? Stop blaming employers for having their hands tied.

"Requiring applicants or newly hired employees to provide certain specific or additional employment authorization documents because of their citizenship status or national origin rather than accepting any of the several forms of documentation individuals are permitted to submit under applicable federal law."

Storming the Capitol was exactly what I was referring to when I said cosplay. The militia in this country are a bunch of seditious cosplay losers. Also you seem to think the masking issue is equal to the insurrection. Interesting. MAGA are a bunch of zombies who lost the ability of rational thought long ago. We are stuck with a faction of our population who think violence is an acceptable means to force another Trump presidency so that he can destroy America. I’m just hoping that some how MAGA regains their ability to think logically and we pull out of this failure spiral.

Employers ignore this and will hire folks regardless. Cheap labor is excellent for the bottom line! Meanwhile we have desperate people trying to feed their families and want a stable country so they come here. They can’t do it legally because our immigration system is broken.

China is taking its last gasp. They have a population collapse and an imploding economy, much like Russia. In ten years, Russia and China won’t be the major players anymore. They don’t have the people or the money anymore. Also I would never call our foreign policy “arrogant,” you’re ridiculous.

The enemies are striking? What is a U.S. B-52 bomber doing all the way over the South China Sea?
