I’m feeling like we really could be moving in that direction. And it doesn’t seem like it would take much.
Anyone else feeling this way and what do you think happens next in the world? |
Yes, I think so. But the only thing we can realistically predict is that the world order and world culture will radically change.
The people who lived in the 1920s could not imagine the world that would come after WWII. Too alien to them, too inconceivable. It's gonna be kinda like that. I guess our job is to get through the coming years in one piece. |
No. The world isnt going to war over the descendants of a million or so post world war 2 displaced peoples. There were tens of millions of displaced populations post ww1 and ww2. These few malcontents aren’t going to force the world into war. |
I agree. |
And it's already started, we just don't know exactly how or when we started it. |
No.
There might be pretty intense local conflicts but NATO won’t be directly involved so no. My prediction is that China will take Taiwan but no direct involvement from NATO still. |
I think people are already forgetting the constant regional wars during the entire Cold War. Central America, Southeast Asia, much of Africa, the Middle East…..I think we’re back to explosive regional proxy wars unfortunately. |
Yes. It's already started. In hindsight, we'll start it from Russia invading Ukraine. |
The Cold War didn't have: - growing climate instability - the Internet - social media - the different power distribution between nations that we see today (BRIC countries are richer, India has more billionaires than the US does, shifting axis of power) - culture war insanity Nobody was invading the U.S. Capitol during the Cold War. Western nations were comfortably on top of the world order, so the threat of global nuclear war wasn't actually that tense. But things are different now. |
The USA has changed. We are far more diverse, including a significant Muslim population now. I seriously doubt if we have the political will to get involved. Maybe the older generation, but the new generation - not so much. The same can be said about Great Britain.

I maintain my theory that something changed in 2015. The world before and after 2015...totally different. I noticed that was when the culture wars, the gender cult, the deepening divisions all started getting obvious.
And Russia's annexation of Crimea was in 2014. That was around the time I noticed things getting weirder and just different. |
The world has always been weird. |
You think WWIII is because of "gender cult"? |
No. Russia’s military will be defeated, China is a paper tiger, caliphates will rise and be crushed in the Middle East but no WW III on the horizon.
Outcome of 24 election will determine how quickly things become more peaceful and how much money is spent by the US keeping the peace. |
Too soon to tell. But we are living in the most dangerous times of our lives right now. Ray Dalio says 50/50 chance. |
