Looks like a strike for Auto workers is likely in Fall.

I haven't seen anyone arguing otherwise.
I have seen that people think the demands of union leadership is unreasonable. I am all for higher pay for the workers, but what they are demanding is insane.

It’s a matter for collective bargaining.

Ford has slow walked electric cars for years and now they have the tubes whining about “we can’t go electric so fast” while Ford rakes in record profits. You can’t say that you support working class people while refusing to call out the big three leadership that has been mismanaging the companies for decades.

How do we support the UAW? After hearing the episode, I fully support this strike.

You support the strike for the workers

I support the strike so ford and gm markedly downsize and or fail

So you also support using more tax money to support these people who lose their jobs and can’t find work to support their families? Great plan.

Greedy? They are woefully underpaid when you look at what companies are brining in. Asking for COLA is not greedy.

The CEO of GM earns 360 times what her laborers earn. That’s immoral and obscene. White collar exploitation of the working class cannot continue like this. Go UAW!

I'm so glad YOU get to decide what a CEO should earn based on what you feel like today.

It's not like CEO compensations are made in a vacuum. They're approved by the board and shareholders. If shareholders ultimately approved it, then fine. It's not up to anyone else to say what is or isn't too much. Are you our moral overlord who gets to determine what is or isn't fair compensation? I personally feel you probably make too much at your job too. Let's cut your pay.

Well then I’m sure the board and shareholders will have fun enduring the UAW strike. Go UAW!

Shareholders will clamor for EVs so they can purge 40% UAW labor they will no longer needed. You go UAW! Compensate yourselves out of jobs!

The board won’t have a company to manage — shareholders will lose either way. Either pay more and lose some, — or don’t, and lose it all.

Doctors work 24-hour shifts but that is what they signed up for.
I don't understand how you can complain about a job asking you to work the hours that you were hired to work and that you are being compensated to do so.

They are already making over $30 an hour and I can't imagine a bachelor's degree is required for this type of work which is great but how much more do they honestly want?..... Oh yeah a 50% increase

12 work days, 7 days a week for 90 days straight with no vacation. They made concessions to help companies stay alive with an understanding they would get thing back when the companies became profitable again.

It’s a bit like how we bailed out the airlines, and now that they’re making hand over fist, they are screwing all of us with fees and no legroom.

Love it or hate it but that is literally capitalism.

It is NOT capitalism. It is only one form of capitalism, and it's a short walk to Oligarchy. There are millions of variations on capitalism that benefit more than a handful of people at the top.

It seems our choices are movement to communism or oligarchy. No middle ground.

They want UAW to earn up to $50/hr. Lol, there are so many jobs out there that require education and years of training that make less than that.

Fire them all and replace with migrant workers coming over the border. Or better yet, close all of the plants and make everything in Mexico and El Salvador. Kill two birds with one stone by reducing labor costs and giving jobs to central Americans who need to get out of poverty that drives them to come here in the first place.

First ups drivers get $170k. Now UAW workers get $100k. What's next, giving the secretary in the office $150k? Yeah, kiss prices good buy with skyrocketing inflation. Can't wait until burgers cost $72 and you need to make $1M per year just to live a middle class life.

While we’re at it, let’s bring in cheaper doctors from the Caribbean med schools.

Practicing medicine requires an education, dimwit. That's not the case for UAW or UPS drivers now earning outrageous compensation.

Perfect retort from the urban elite

Oblivious to their bias and value judgement that educated people earning high salaries is appropriate age but uneducated people earning high salaries is outrageous

Let’s import millions more , to add to the 4,000,000 illegal aliens and the 800,000 legal immigration pushed by democrats.

Screw those low wage US citizens , I mean deplorables

Tell the GOP time to sit down and act like adults instead of whipping up anti-immigrant hysteria while letting businesses profit mightily and depress the wages and workers’ rights of American workers.

And i love how pickled Republicans’ brains are. When’s the last time any of you supported a union? Higher wages? Employee protections? OSHA? I’ll tell you: never.

In the time of mass layoff of tech workers, has Biden done anything to protect American’s jobs?

Trump at least did a few things:
1. Buy American, hire American executive order.
2. Pause immigration and work visa from overseas.
3. Crack down HXXXB abuse and asylum EAD abuse.
4. Crack down illegal immigration.
5. A few plans to pause stem OXXT, H4 EAD etc.

And that’s when the jobs markets were good.

Now there is barely any tech job left on the market, and Biden seems to have done nothing other than:
1. Lower the bar for NIW and EB1 green card.
2. Encourage laid off aliens to stay at US as long as possible by providing one year EAD.
3. PP for H4 EAD.
4. EAD for frivolous and fraudulent asylum claims.
5. No scrutiny for HXXXB or L1 application.
6. Mass green card issuance from oversea embassies.

I was a democrat before but from now on I will only vote for republicans. Even though Trump has done many bad things, at least he did something to protect Americans livelihoods.

Biden had 3.4% unemployment rate in January and April of 2023. Trump never had unemployment that low.

Wages are higher than ever in 2023 as well. Simple facts.

+100

Better quality too. I’ll be sure to buy non-union made products moving forward. Definitely want my money to be used to buy the actual car and not paying extra $$$ due to union extortions for outrageous compensation.

This is an idiotic statement. Or just put some guardrails on capitalism.

Maybe the people who Biden surrounds himself with but not him. Really though the Democratic elites despise Michigan Democrats and working class Democrats just a little less than Trump supports. This has been the case for well over a decade. Democrats in DCUMlandia brand those other democrats MAGA but still expect them to tow the party line exactly has they are told they should.

This is made up nonsense

+1

I can’t believe how many Republicans just make crap up and then pretend it’s real. It’s the Democrats who support labor and Republicans who are throwing their toys in frustration and anger at these workers for - checks notes - negotiating. The GOP hates workers. They love them some useless management and executives, but they haaaaate workers. Show proof to the contrary.
