If lying about whether you ever did drugs on your 4473 is a major felony then millions of gun owners are major felons.

If filing your taxes a few months late is a major crime requiring you go to prison then millions of Americans need to go to prison.

So... When are we going to prosecute the rest of America for these crimes, and if not, why not?

If someone is a current drug abuser and lies on the 4473, yeah, that’s a big problem.

Late filing taxes? How about filing for an extension?

People have looked for and not found any cases where someone was charged criminally for this gun charge and not any other gun charge.

Tons of people pay taxes late and don’t get charged criminally once they pay what was owed.

Depends on how egregious it is. This wasn't just "paying taxes late." This wasn't a Turbotax math error and it wasn't failing to remember you had a 1099 from some stock you inherited from Aunt Ethel. This covered multiple years, hundreds of thousands of dollars, and a pattern of abuse that stretched back many years, beyond where prosecutors could charge due to the statute of limitations.

The problem is that right wing media and Trump hyped MAGA idiots up about this for years and now that it’s over they are stunned.

The three-plus hour hearing saw the original plea agreement nearly fall apart and leaves the son of President Joe Biden in limbo for the moment.

It’s not over. Why do you think it’s over?

The judge is a Trump appointee. The system is working as it's supposed to.

PS It's "would have," not "would of."

The political left cannot talk about being tough on guns and then claim that an egregious violation of a sane, common sense, Federal gun law should slide.

As to taxes, a lawyer and businessman like Hunter surely used the services of an accountant. If he was going to be late because he lacked certain documentation by Tax Day, any accountant worth their fees is going to file for an extension.

Frankly, any accountants or lawyers who attempted to help Hunter shield his foreign income from taxation should be on the hook with him.

This is the real question. What Hunter Biden is pleading to is unusual in American criminal proceedings. IOW, he is being prosecuted BECAUSE he is the president's son. Those thinking he is getting off light as a special favor simply don't understand what is normal in these circumstances.

You can keep repeating those words but nobody believes them. HB is a criminal sociopath being protected by his dad.

Dp- maybe, but that matters to the American people why? Banging hookers? Not my business
Tax cheating? Sure! But the republicans don’t want to fund the IRS to got after that stuff. So wake me up when they want to do something about it for everyone.
Illegitimate child? Not my problem.
Working for foreign companies? Not a crime
Being a degenerate drug addict? Sucks. Sad. Glad it’s not me or my family.

The issue isn't that Hunter Biden filed his taxes a few months late - he failed to pay taxes on $1.5 million in income in 2017-2019 - so he's owed this money for many years. He also owes $145,000 on $400,000 in income from 2014, but the statute of limitations has expired because DOJ didn't act quickly enough. Said another way, he stole $145,000 from tax payers and got away with it because the statute of limitations expired. And this crime was discovered in plenty of time before the SoL expired, but DOJ would not investigate.

I have to stop myself from screaming into the void

So you're telling me that Trump people suddenly care... about paying taxes?

And about people in power's kids making bank in foreign lands?

And about possible public corruption?

I don't think Hunter Biden is a great guy - but he was investigated and he is being prosecuted, and we've seen ZERO evidence that Joe Biden was involved with any of Hunter's money making adventures (unlike, say, Javanka! Or Cocaine Bear Jr). I don't even know where to get started with you people and your ASTONISHING hypocrisy. Tell me how you're feeling about documents today while you're at it!

PS: most normal Americans don't care about Hunter Biden.

Welp, not voting for Hunter, then.

We aren't saying it should slide. This crime is never prosecuted, except here. Either prosecute all of them, or yes, this one shouldn't be, but in this case, Hunter is getting special treatment, the other way.

Personally, I think they should all be charged and prosecuted. Folks on the right only want Democrats to be prosecuted.

Here's the difference: not a single Dem will tell you that HB shouldn't be prosecuted if he committed a crime.

Charge a Republican, and it's all "ZOMG the gubmit is out to get me!!!" "Prosecutorial Misconduct!" "ELECTION INTEFERENCE!"

There isn’t “zero evidence” Joe Biden is involved in the foreign payments. You may want to discount the evidence (Hunter’s WhatsApp messages, congressional testimony, texts in laptop), either because it comes from Hunter or another source you want to ignore, but there is evidence that he was (1) receiving payments (testimony, laptop texts) or (2) using his influence to ensure that Hunter got paid for his deals (WhatsApp messages).

Suddenly leftists don’t care about:

people not paying their fair share in taxes

people illegally owning a gun

white privilege

Hunter never registered as a foreign agent.

Just think... we have a person who has worked as a foreign agent for governments hostile to the US (and never registered as one) living in the White House.

And it doesn't really leave the Biden family smelling like roses either.
