I don't think I can be friends with moms who drive huge SUVs

It was hilarious the other day because a few of them ran into each other at the grocery store and were talking obnoxiously about their vacations while standing in line at Aldi. Anyway, once I got to the parking lot, they were all talking and loading their groceries. They all have the exact type of car a HUGE white SUV. [b]My first car in high school was a Prius. [i] Dh wants an SUV but I am adamant about having a sedan. We have two kids, and it's fine. Do these people not care about global warming? We had an earthquake a week ago, killing thousands of people. Driving these huge cars is such a waste and global warming contributes to more earthquakes. I went from living in an apartment to this. It's such a big change.

I never had a car in HS or college. You seem wasteful to me.

NP. Did you not work in college? I had two jobs and went to school full-time. I had to have a car.

It's safer FOR YOU. It's actually more dangerous for everyone else.

It's cute how you think I meant anything other than "IT'S SAFER FOR ME"

we are aware.

I'm sure everyone other than me buys a car thinking "geez, how would a pedestrian feel if my new car hit him/her." What a stupid premise. What I do care about is that if another huge SUV/Truck hits my car on the highway. I'd rather be protected. And so would you, but apparently, you're too much of a troll to admit it.

If a semi hits your SUV on the highway, you're toast. Ipso facto, by your logic, you should buy a semi to drive your kids around.

Yeah until your kid gets hit walking to school....

Oh wait that's only for the poors right?

I drive my kid 35+ minutes to private school. Yeah, I need a car. And yeah, I'm going to be safe doing it.

You're not wrong, but parking that thing in a DC garage would be a bi&ch so a certain level of risk is inevitable.

That is actually bad for your own child, not very bright of you.

This comment explains why everyone in DC masks outdoors.

And the potential buyer will now consider a new shiny townhouse in a new concrete jungle because it's the only affordable housing left where green space used to be

I live in a townhouse that is less than 2000 Square feet. No house was torn down. This was a field. We couldn't get an existing house. Tried for 11 months. My work is five minutes away. Half of the community is south asian. We are an international family Turkish/ Asian. The community I live in is friendly and not flashy. I have noticed these other mom's at the birthday parties. Thanks for mentioning that travel sports doesn't mean they fly every weekend. I had no idea.

Did you immigrate just so you could tell Americans everything they are doing wrong?

Your field was a farm. There are never just fields. Fields are pastures for livestock or fallow between crops. And yes as people like you move into BRAND new construction, it probably looks like a field because the farmers have had to move on. I used to ride horses in several places in Northern Virginia that are now suburbs. One was right in the middle of Vienna. You judge others but obviously wouldn’t deign to live in existing homes even though doing so is far more environmentally conscious than new construction of any kind. You have zero moral high ground about the environment.

It's easier to get new construction. The bidding wars were a thing. You needed cash.

I no longer have a Prius. That was in high school and I pointed that out because that's how I grew up. It was very important to my parents that I don't contribute to global warming so hence the Prius. Big SUVs are so wasteful. That's a fact Americans love to ignore.

You and your family sound insufferable. We have a Prius AND a big big SUV. A Prius can’t tow my horses around a yes the horses fart and probably contribute to glow or warming too. You are ridiculous. Live your life and let other people live theirs. You have no idea why people do what they do or whether they tells you anything about their values. You just don’t.

Hit a nerve? Driving a huge suv does tell you something about people's values. "Live your life and let others waste, pollute, consume, blah blah. It's the American way. Go America!

I have a Prius. But it’s so cute how all my ultra woke friends have the biggest SUVs.

Tell me you didn't have children please!!! How wasteful of you since this planet is already so populated.

We own land in America. And we have lots of it. We need cars to go places.

Move to a European city if you don’t like it.

Or go back to NYC and feel smug there.

I live in a 64 year old house and have a 10 year old and 12 year old car including a Prius. I am completely comfortable with my choices and don’t care what others do. We all have our reasons and choices we make based on preferences and needs. I kind of think OP is a little jealous of the ladies with their big SUVs. Feels a little left out and insecure. Shouldn’t but it does sound that way.

+1 Yep, it's only for the poors. I drive mine to private school in my SUV. One of 3 we own. Not sorry one bit.
