The current principal is new this year.

How’s the new principal? Tilden has had an unusually high number of teacher openings posted and I wondered if it was due to parents, admin, or maybe both.

I imagine this will be true for most MCPS schools this year. Many teachers left mid-year and more and more have had enough and are either retiring, or changing careers. And not just MCPS - this is a nation-wide problem

It’s been a really rough year for all teachers, but Tilden truly stood out for needing more than most. Tbh, it definitely appeared to be the middle school with the most openings this year (by a lot). Just curious why.

Yah, if tnat's the case then it's that usual MCPS problem. It's Tilden specific problem. School has been going downward.

North Bethesda is better one for that cluster.

Sometimes new principals have to disrupt some of whatever was going on in a school, and that causes teachers to leave. Sometimes there are poor teachers but the previous admin didn’t do anything about them, but new admin starts scrutinizing more. Sometimes a department is operating a certain way and hasn’t adopted current curriculum/grading practices/school focus items, and the new admin starts pressure about whatever it is. Sometimes a new principal disrupts things that were working and that irritates longer term staff. From the outside, you can’t tell.

True.

But it's a sign that there are some big issues with Tilden.

We don't know if it's getting better(admin getting rid of poor teachers) or getting worse(good teachers leaving due to new admin)

The students are the worst. The girls are terrible. Ton of staff layover. Entitled bratty mean girls with their entitled moms. Teachers worst nightmare.

Someone started an anonymous Instagram about Tilden girls and the 5 posts were so horrific. Body shaming, mean, saying a girl should have tried to kill herself better, they are ugly, etc…. Calling out specific girls by name. It was banned pretty quickly thank god but I am so embarrassed being a part of this school.

Let's hope the principal deals with this and instagram finds out who started the account. This school is getting so out of control

Show me a middle school without a mean girls group.

This is the epitome of a Tilden mom. Oh who cares someone started a social media site making fun of girls specifically by name. Who cares that the white girls are racist and mean to the non-white girls. Who cares that this school is known to have the worst girls in the area.

Every school has some mean girls. You are part of the problem
