Private & Independent Schools
That could be because many of those posts are probably written by trolls trying to stir the pot. |
| ABSOLUTELY, PP. Well said. That board is just as good as their last cocktail. I still say the MS head should be relieved of his duties. Before another school year begins. |
calling it like it is. but a nine was left off my post. NINETY percent of these kids are good people, and so are 90% of the parents. The 10% have failed them, and should be fired. Huguely Sr was boozing it up with his son all day on the golf course. When a father AND a son, think thats okay, it is, Lord of The Flies, and there is more than a little of that at Landon. The Board should announce that Landon is sticking to its mission of educating boys, and then they should all resign. They had their time on the mast, and it didnt work. Landon shouldnt become coed, or liberal, or change their values. they just need to change WHAT THEY HONOR, and they need to make clear WHAT IS DISGRACE. And they need to ackowledge that in a dramatic way....change the Board, stick to the mission. get a new board that is 20 percent moms, 30 percent alum, and 50% the smartest, wisest people in their substantial circle, and get back to the mission. |
your so misinformed, yet seem to be so confident about your incorrect opinion. you say "landon will not do anything about these boys"? well this actually happened back in august and landon DID do something about it. all of them were suspended for a week, had to write essays on honor and respect for women, had to personally apologize to each and every girl involved and the incident even sparked weekly ethics assemblies at the school. to say the school did nothing is incredibly misinformed and false so before you go bashing landon, get some imformation please. it really is a great place. |
How many of the Fantasy Leaguers were highly touted athletes? And how many boys were involved, total? I do think Landon needs to add some well qualified women to the board (how about a head of school from a girls school like Winsor in Boston, to get some fresh eyes?). They also need to add some strong confident women teachers to their upper school, a la STA. Boys need to have women role models outside the immediate family. |
Big whoop. How many were grounded? How many lost athletic eligibility for a month? NO football plus a loss of whatever sport they play in throughout the year. |
| Yes, I am confident about what I said. It stands.21:34 |
they were all grounded for months. athletic eligibility was lost for the ones who played sports for half of the season and after that it was a hard road back to acceptance from their team. out of the 6 involved 3 played sports so they were not all highly touted athletes. |
Thats what they did in Richmond when they Tasered Huguely, and then again after he beat a sleeping boy. Thank goodness he took it to heart. The issue isnt whether a week for being a horny 8th grader fits the crime -- it does. The issue is why none of them stood up and said "thats my sister, you Fucker!" and stopped the game. Thats cultural, and it was top down. Thats what has to be fixed. |
okay well its obviously wrong, i just made their punishments clear so i dont know how you can still say that the school did nothing. |
|
A gentleman is defined by what he does when no one is looking.
Whether the punishment fits the crime is also irrelevent. Too many boys here have done egregious things that were close enough to the accepted medium that a week, or two, suspended "made it right." Thats what has to be fixed. I believe that Landon has enourmous human resources and talent to apply to making the world a better place. Landon and its grads, on net, have not been accretive to the world, despite the good, for at least a decade. Parents, these are your boys, and boys, this is your legacy. Step up, fire the bastards, and just keep doing all the stuff your predecessors talked about -- but actually do it. |
You are wrong about the suspension. The boys got 2 days in school...... |
the ones who were considered less involved got 2 days in school. the ones who made a website etc got a week out of school |
| You've just proved the point without meaning to do so. Thanks! |
| Glad to know that Landon considers these "gentlemen" worthy of a diploma someday. |
