Why does everyone think that anyone who has a negative view of this woman is a racist? I look at her actions and her need for fame, I don't look at her skin color (and honestly, if no one had said anything, I would have no idea she's mixed race - she's much whiter than my mixed race teens).

Who Harry is cannot be separated from his views about how the press treated his mother including that the press is responsible for her death, and to a lesser but still meaningful extent his existence as the spare. Based on this, my view is that unless Harry stayed single, he most likely would have left regardless of who he married. He just wouldn’t be take watching the press take down his wife, especially when he has no actual role in the monarchy. He may have been able to get by when it was just him, but not when it started to seriously impact someone he clearly loves.

As he said several times, the public feels it has a right to the BRF through the press in exchange for funding them. The solution he eventually landed on was to take no funding but continue the charity work and use his ‘celebrity’ to highlight causes he believes in. (Or mostly no funding - they would have kept security.). For Harry, that’s a very reasonable solution and makes a lot of sense. For the BRF, it is everything they fear. If that happened, it wouldn’t be long before the public starts asking why they must fund the rest of the BRF to do charity work when H&M do without. That’s why H&M are such a threat to them. That’s why they tried to use the security to get them in line. I’m not all team H&M, but the attempted blackmail with the security is disgusting.

I also wonder if Charles’ and William’s responsibilities grew behind the scenes as the Queen got older, and Harry was increasingly marginalized. There were a number of comments in both Oprah and Netflix suggesting that the Queen was being run or manipulated by others. Or Harry could have been saying those things to protect her.

I think this gives Harry way too much credit. When you listen to him speak unscripted, he isn’t the sharpest tool in the shed. He’s been catered to his entire life, I doubt he knows how the BRF actually works. There’s a little too much of intrigue talk -kind of what a 13 year old would conjur up in their imagination.

With access to the internet, tell all books, etc, this idea that she was an angelic, naive young woman is ridiculous. I’m sympathetic to Di precisely because she was 19, not well educated, and really not worldly when Charles courted her. I don’t care for the royal family, but I also have no sympathy for Meghan. Frankly, I think they all deserve each other.

This is a great point re the whole "Megan is the new Di" narrative, people ignore the fact that Meghan was middle aged when she married into the family whereas Di was 19.

And Diana was going to be QUEEN. Meghan was basically just Fergie. The press only cared about them at the time bc it was all new. If they had just waited and done their jobs and gotten in line they would have the life they wanted, but it was too hard for Meghan to do that. She had already been in control of her own life as a 35yo. I can see how it would be hard. But she couldn't handle it.

I think this is a far too charitable view of the BRF. If she needed to get mental health care or get away, they should have permitted it immediately. They shouldn’t have cut her off from friends and family. This gilded cage stuff obviously makes people crazy.

Didn't Meghan fly to NYC for her baby shower? And meet with friends while living there? Tell me again how she was cut off

Leaving for a weekend is different from leaving for a month or longer.
