With access to the internet, tell all books, etc, this idea that she was an angelic, naive young woman is ridiculous. I’m sympathetic to Di precisely because she was 19, not well educated, and really not worldly when Charles courted her. I don’t care for the royal family, but I also have no sympathy for Meghan. Frankly, I think they all deserve each other.

This is a great point re the whole "Megan is the new Di" narrative, people ignore the fact that Meghan was middle aged when she married into the family whereas Di was 19.

And Diana was going to be QUEEN. Meghan was basically just Fergie. The press only cared about them at the time bc it was all new. If they had just waited and done their jobs and gotten in line they would have the life they wanted, but it was too hard for Meghan to do that. She had already been in control of her own life as a 35yo. I can see how it would be hard. But she couldn't handle it.

This is all true but I think W and C are making the best of it and just getting on doing what they need to do. So far neither has made much of a misstep which can't be said for any of the other current working royals or recently deceased except maybe Beatrice. All have had some sort of 'scandal.'

I recall rumors of William sleeping around and that was squashed. Who knows what’s real with these people? Clearly all the resources go to protecting Will and Kate.

I think this is a far too charitable view of the BRF. If she needed to get mental health care or get away, they should have permitted it immediately. They shouldn’t have cut her off from friends and family. This gilded cage stuff obviously makes people crazy.

Their interest is in supporting the monarchy as they and their kids are heirs to it. Meghan and Harry wouldn't get as much money or attention there, at best like Andrew's clan. They can gain more fame, money and influence in Hollywood and on charity/activist circuits.

It's difficult for any new mother to realize that she has PPD/PPA (too many of us know this from experience). And being in a new country with new systems makes it difficult to know how to get mental health care. But it's obvious that the BRF didn't prevent her from getting mental health care, she had a panic attack and fled the country - this was not Elizabeth's fault or the press's fault or the gray men's fault. It was unfortunate. And Harry could have been a bit more clued in, all around.

I thought the same thing! And I don't blame her, because so am I.

Does she chemically straighten it or blow it out?

Ok I have very similar hair (not quite as thick) and I’m thinking she does a blow out for the cameras and leaves it natural once in awhile. Actually today I have no plans and it’s not humid so I actually am accomplishing Meghan hair because no one will see it. I think keratin is ridiculously damaging in the long run and celebrities know this. The documentary showed her occasionally with the natural hair pulled back when she was not “made up.” I would pay real money for information about her products and routine. The question is how she dealt with the humidity in the UK.

LOTS of legit questions about her hair.

Yes! Maybe a patreon or something where she shares these secrets. I would happily pay as well!

Harry was supposedly an independent, functioning soldier for a decade. If he couldn’t figure out how to pick up the phone and get his wife help, he’s thicker than I originally thought. It also makes me wonder just how functional he was while in the military.

Didn't Meghan fly to NYC for her baby shower? And meet with friends while living there? Tell me again how she was cut off

He doesn’t seem very bright- nazi uniform, did poorly in school, called Pakistani soldier a racist name. He has just burned bridges with all his extended relatives for money. He will regret it one day when his kids have no connection at all with Britain and he is a pariah there.

I think he is happy to relive himself of any connection to the Royal family.

He is only famous because he is connected to the royal family. Without that he is just a shmuck who would never ever be asked his opinion, or put in any position of power. He is biting the hand that feeds him. His kids will no longer be connected to the royal family. He’s taking away that option for them. Completely short sided.

Are you another bored American housewife who spends her time romanticizing how wonderful it is to be a British royal? There is nothing redeeming about being in the royal family.

Harry and Meghan were the star of the royal family, but they do not have permission to be more popular than the boring and uninteresting W&K
Andrew is a disaster
M has every right to refuse to be bullied or accept the way she is treated

I think the BRF is very much lost without them, but it their fault they chose to step back

He may have listened too closely to the words that she was saying rather than the signals that she was sending. Or else he's just a dolt. But she is an actress and if she was telling him that she was fine, that she just needed XYZ, he may have believed her.

It's funny how you see criticism as "hate" We all haven't drunk the cool aide

It is unclear to me that she was truly cut off from friends and family. I do believe her that she was depressed and felt that way. They jumped into a heavy schedule too quickly. She got pregnant right away and the hormones combined with all the terrible press / social media coverage wreaked havoc.

On one of the many threads, probably deleted now, someone said that the BRF serves a very important role in the UK and that W&K fulfill that role. Tbh, I think H&M would have done fine too, in whatever fashion they chose, up and until they moved to California. I think the visible presence of the royal family is important to the country and the whole UK, and the royals fulfill that. They're a bit smaller now without H&M, and would have benefited from them, but they'll continue without them.
