Liz Cheney for President

Anonymous
I don't care how conservative Liz Cheney is, she exhibited integrity and courage in calling out the anti-democratic, authoritarianism currently controlling the republican party. Right now, our politics are divided between those who believe in peaceful transfers of power following a free and fair election and those who have embraced full-on Christo-fascist authoritarianism either because they are Trump cultists, the cynical rich who are willing to toss democracy so long as their wealth is protected, religious fanatics, or white supremacists. We can go back to fighting over policies later---something much more fundamental with respect to our nation is at stake.

I admit that before Dobbs I might not be so single-issue on this, but there's just no way I would vote for any anti-abortion candidates at this stage after seeing the implications of Dobbs. And I have a lot of issues with Biden, no faith at all that Harris would make a good president. But I'll still vote for them since they won't work actively to put my life in danger.

The majority of voters support abortion ban after 15 weeks with exceptions for rape, incest, and health of the mother. Would you consider that a pro-life or pro-choice position?

I’d like to see some proof of the bolded.

The irony is that Cheney helped empower the monstrosity of Trump administration (93% vote) and the hate/intolerance emblematic of today’s GOP.

I'm not going to vote for Cheney over Biden. Republicans are not going to vote for her, and Democrats are not either. GTFOOH.

This is just a true characterization of the current state of affairs. It doesn’t mean we should vote for her for president, but in the actual world we live in, Liz Is fundamentally not a traitor and that’s the dividing line in our politics today. Everything else is secondary

The problem is that on the whole, conservatives in the US are not going to get behind anyone who is not a traitor. Liz Cheney did the right thing in this case, but she stands no chance in 2024. I doubt the GOP will moderate even for 2028. If she is playing the long game, it will be a very long game. For me, right now, while Cheney's actions are laudable, she is kind of irrelevant, practically speaking

In THAT case. That was a step too far for her. Everything else was cool.

Glad she found her spine for the man actually attempting to overthrow the government. But the rest of it? No big

Ummmm. She is a traitor. Just not in this case. Look up her record while she was at State.
She might not sit at satan’s right hand like like Trump but she sure as sh!t is one one of his eager minions. This lionization of her just shows the world how dimwitted most Americans truly are.

Nope.

People generally support abortion for severe defects not picked up until around 20 weeks.

Maybe not in general election but crossover voted in primaries and she could then run from the new "Federalist,
" Party and split the vote if Trump is the GOP moninee. Her son is to keep trump out of the White House.

Don't vote for Cheney unless your a conservative who shares her conservative views. Otherwise, Send her a thank you note for standing up to Trump. Sending a thank you Note takes about as long as voting and is more appropriate.

So apparently Dick Cheney’s daughter’s megalomania is going to help save American democracy now?

This is truly the worst timeline.

I would never vote for Cheney (well, maybe in some bizarro world, which nowadays doesn't seem so farfetched), as I disagree with her on almost every political issue. But at least if she lost, she wouldn't try to overturn the election, which is more than I can say for most of the GOP of today.

Cheney spoke out against the cult so now they ostracized her. Happens with Scientology and NXIV. This is how cults operate. GQP is no different.

I would vote for Cheney over Trump, DeSantis, or any one of their cronies.

But not over any thoughtful candidate.
