The supreme Court had upheld that it was protected under the constitutional right of privacy. So yes it was seen as a right. |
Ok, fine. So be it. I’m voting against women. Whatever. I guess the only way to REALLY preserve “democracy” (as you define it) is just to keep me from voting. Then you’ll have your “democracy”
|
The same people who tell us that “abortion is protected in the constitution” also say “the second amendment only applies to muskets because that’s all they had when it was written”. You can’t have it both ways. |
GOP has been usurped by a monster, a monster GOP establishment has been feeding for decades. They have lost control but are still delusional enough to think they can wrangle it back. The GOP is fast becoming an all out NeoNazi party. Vote them out now or watch this country devolve in chaos and poverty. Decent Republicans need to pull their head out of the sand and build a different platform |
“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” We already have a well regulated militia that ensures the security and freedom of our nation. It’s called the US army and it’s the best in the world. We don’t need uncle Gary and his Walmart bought AR 15 to ensure the security and freedom of this country. The second amendment is very clear in its intent, it’s MAGAs who are literalist and take an excerpt of the 2nd amendment out of its very clear context. |
I'm saying this as a dem. Abortion rights were on borrowed time as soon as the roe v Wade ruling. All abortion rights activists knew that, many of us got roe codified at the system level. Dems in Congress never wanted to waste political capital on abortion when they had the votes. Bringing on menses in the first three months of pregnancy was an acceptable practice in early America but never would have been considered important enough for the constitution. I guess we can just be glad they didn't include coverture. |

You are correct, OP, it’s vote Democratic or it’s the end of the US. A lot of people are terrified of where the GOP is trying to take us and this is reflected in their defensive and ignorant posting here.
You can count on Republican pps to obfuscate and dissemble about what their party is doing and where it’s going (like 7:41 above; this is clearly a person in denial about what the abortion ruling actually means and what their party is doing), but it’s vote Democratic or it’s the end of the US. |
What do you all mean when you say things like, "vote D or its the end of the US"? Do you mean you intend to do something to end the US? |
No, it means if SCOTUS decides as we think they will regarding elections next year, your vote won't count. |
Yep, that’s the messaging. Don’t worry, it comes through loud and clear. I hear it from my Democrat friends in person and all over social media. It is an effective way to shut people down and I guess it works since Biden runs the country. But I am not a fan of the condescending, patronizing Democrats that run my county and state. |
LOL. Like the GQP does not do that. Puhleeze. Asking for votes is politics. Do what you want. But don't complain about the leopard eating your face. |
This is exactly the obfuscation I was talking about, thank you for proving my point. |
And plenty of us live in deep blue states - we saw what the Democrats did to us and our kids over the past few years with respect to Covid. We see where the economy is. We see how crime has increased as a direct result of Democrat policy choices. A lot of us are terrified of where the Democrats are trying to take us. We don’t want to end up like New York or CA. Hard pass. |
+1 I love how regressives pretend that they’re so pure and that their party would never stoop to base politics. They’re pure id. |
The right “of the people”. Not the right “of the US Army”. Just as the first amendment protects the people’s right to free speech. Those same people have the right to keep and bear arms. |
