False. Absolutely no truth to this. |
I heard significant number of freshmen left/forced out due to low unweighted gpa during September - May of 2021. TJ requires students to maintain minimum of 3.0 uw gpa to stay at TJ and typically freshmen students with 3.3 or lower uw gpa after first semester are given special academic support/counseling and some choose to go back to base schools. |
| Those students who were forced out shouldn't go to TJ. It is not as simple as changing a school. Their confidence and mental health were damaged. |
They shouldn't have been admitted to TJ, and then they never would have had the opportunity to attend. By admitting students who aren't academically capable, FCPS is responsible for this damage. Not to mention the damage to students who are academically capable and would have been admitted had these less capable students not been. |
Students who failed the freshman stats class are being “stickied” into the TJ 8th period, and if they attend, they get their grade changed to a C. My kid tells me that it’s been going on since last month. |
TJ is using this way to keep those students?
|
| TJ has to save those students, otherwise it is announcing the failure of their ridiculous admission reform. |
DC tells me it's the same this year as any other year. I t think this is just C4TJ propaganda like their free meals hoax. |
| wonder how many students this year were treated this way. is it more or less than previous years? |
I'm glad TJ is saving those students and not just using them to improve their optics. If they were admitted to a school for which they were not academically ready, it's not their fault. TJ should be doing everything in their power to help the admitted kids be successful. |
| Cheat the grade by changing the grade from D to C won't make those students academically successful. |
| If TJ students have to survive this way, it is the joke for both the school and the students. |
+1 |
|
| TJ should start in 7th grade when grades don't matter at least for college placement. Would give kids two years to see if it is a good fit for them, and if not they could start at another school in 9th grade. |
