Where can I move that is warmer, slightly cheaper, somewhat liberal with good schools?

Pick 2. You can't have all 3

Tucson, AZ. It’s liberal (surrounded by conservatives), low cost, warm

This is a good answer, but it's a lot more than warm.

dp.. at least it's not humid, though.

It’s roads are getting crowded not just because of encroaching (?) neighboring residents but because of growing number of visitors and tourists. In recent year, Expedia ranked Peachtree City as number one city to visit in US because of its unique landscape and lifestyle.

I'd stay away from the whole state of Georgia, especially if you are a POC. It's gotten better in recent years, but certain views are entrenched there, and you don't have to go very far to experience them. We dealt with routine racism in Decatur, GA (supposedly the "Berkeley" of the South). Everything from being told to "go back to your country", to my kids' being made fun of for their "smelly" (ethnic) lunch, to my visiting uncle taking a walk in our neighborhood and cops almost being called (by a supposedly liberal, lesbian Jew). It's really obvious when people are just paying lip service to being liberal, as opposed to being a sincere ally. What I experienced was not unique; many of our POC friends had similar experiences. And the shootings in Duluth, GA last year of Asian women should warn you what it's really like at the core.

Lol, no one calls Decatur the Berkley of the South. Plus your kids should not be bringing pungent foods to school anyways. If other kids are bringing turkey or ham sandwiches it will be pretty obvious if your kids bring curry or other strong smelling foods.

Do you even hear your racist self? Why does it matter if the smell of some other kid's food is "obvious"? Maybe those kids are offended by the smell of dead animals from your kid's lunch.

Exactly, I have wanted to wretch at my coworkers' "American" meals my entire life, but somehow managed to be polite while they dug into their rare steaks.

Fortunately, here in DMV, my kids are surrounded by other kids with different "pungent" foods and noone says a damn thing. In fact, they trade.

Well lunch meats don't have a pungent smell to start. Also it is not racist to state facts. Fish, garlic and other strong smelling foods should not be brought in for school lunches.

You are an idiot.

PP you are quoting here - I rest my case. Stay away from the whole freaking state. And Alabama too while you are at it. Nothing redeeming. Crap schools, equally ignorant people.

Dry heat loses it’s charm when overnight lows are above 100.

Ah yes the coworkers that bring rare steaks into work for lunch.

The price of housing is skyrocketing in FL because so many people, both red and blue, are moving there. However, relatively cheap housing can still be found in these areas if you are comparing to the DC area.

Despite many ignorant opinions to the contrary on DCUM I find FL to be a delightful place to live and I am staunchly democrat. Like other states (Virginia for example) the rural areas are almost completely red and the urban areas are almost completely blue. Registered Republicans in FL just recently started to barely outnumber registered Democrats after many years of the opposite. So it's pretty purple basically.

With the warm climate, decent schools in certain areas, and lower COL it's not too tough to ignore or tolerate whatever politics or political opinions you have a problem with and just live your own life.

You must be white and cisgender. Living in these purpling states that are still gerrymandered to death to ensure GOP hold on the state works only for straight, white progressives. As a Black woman, I was entirely unsurprised that Youngkin won VA, and you can't blame it on the rural parts of the state. As MLK said, white moderates are the problem. It is easy to ignore or tolerate the politics of others when they aren't causing direct harm to you.

Do you have this same vitriol towards the anti-Semitic blacks who are so prevalent in the DC area?

So your response is classic whataboutism. Hi Tucker. Please remain in Florida.

Traffic in St Augustine has been horrible the last two years due to all of the construction. Restaurant waits are over now 2 hours long in St Augustine.

I worked in Brevard county close to Melbourne. Also, Tampa and Gainesville and the schools did not have adequate funding or parent participation. Compared to DC or NOVA schools you'll he shocked. They also can't afford to attack great staff with very low pay and now extremely high real estate prices (compared to 2 years ago). When I lived there I flew back to DC to see my doctors. Also, Florida has a terrible health care system. If you move to Florida you may need to budget private schools or private tutors.
I have a friend from Florida who is a nicu nurse. She graduated from a Florida HS and went to a Florida college for free. I think
She had to have a certain gpa to get this but free college for residents who graduate from a state HS is pretty awesome.

Florida has Bright Futures. It really is a great program for free college.

I’d second parts of Orange County and the greater LA area. There are pockets that are similar COL to DC and have good schools, and while you may have to go inland for affordability you’re still within driving distance of the beach. And it’s definitely warmer and sunnier. Not all of the area is liberal and politics currently affects daily life in the form of how strict your school’s COVID measures are.
