| Feeling the need to branch out from DC and find somewhere warmer and with a lower COL and better quality of life. Would love to be near the water. Every idea I have turns out to be very trumpy, and we're too liberal for that. Where would you suggest?! |
| Not near water but Atlanta? Decatur has decent schools. |
| Virginia Beach? Somewhat trumpy but mixed. |
| My friend just moved to St. Pete and I visited him there. Cheaper than DMV and purple/liberal (he's gay, for instance). No idea about the schools though. |

Liberal
Warm Low cost of living. Pick 2. You can't have all 3 |
this is a great suggestion! |
| Asheville? No major lakes or ocean but great access to nature at least, and great food. |
| Maybe some parts of the Richmond, VA area? Not in the city itself but close by - further out you get, the more conservative it gets though but I think some sides may be more liberal than others? |
| Mayberry. Golly! |
Unfortunately this. |
+2 OP, I get your thinking, but you’re going to need to accept purple-ish or red voters — who send their kids to the local privates, compounding subpar public school systems - or high prices. Sincerely, Resident of north carolina |
| Durham, NC. |
All of the people (from DCUM land) I know who were looking for this ended up in the Research Triangle or Atlanta. Not exciting, but I think all of them were ultimately happy about the move. |
| +1 Durham. It still snows every once in a while, but it’s warmer. The summers are worse than here though. |
