Political Discussion
No, Bethany, disingenuous is saying that Tucker Carlson needed to stop calling masking of children child abuse (you specifically said "child abuse is child abuse") but then saying it yourself when it benefits you. Disingenuous is referring to yourself as a "proud Trump voter" in November 2020 and then referring to yourself as a "Never Trumper" in January 2021. Disingenuous is like when your friend Janice Deane said Cuomo's bad covid policies killed her in-laws but then encouraging her twitter followers to go out to bars and party just to spite Cuomo. Get over yourself. |
| I'm not Bethany, but whatever. It's one thing to think masking kids is appropriate and to be all in, but to pretend to not understand Bethany's opinion about the subject is disingenuous. And, again, the people attacking her on twitter are leaving out all context of the subject matter, and they seem like bitter, unhappy people in general. But, it's twitter, so I'm sure Bethany's used to the haters. |
Where did I say I don't understand her opinion? I agree with her opinion. I think it's dumb that kids have to mask to protect vaccinated (or hopefully vaccinated) adults is ridiculous. I also think writing to a children's magazine and freaking out over a culturally relevant illustration is ridiculous. |
| I don't see where she was "freaking out", though. She doesn't want masks on kids for hours a day to become normalized, and she thought the illustration in the magazine was one more example of adults doing that. She doesn't deserve the vitriol. People can disagree with her and just ignore her. But there's a group that already seems to hate her and is just waiting to pile on. |
It was a picture of kids and adults masked at a concert where, unfortunately for quite some time, we will have to be masked. Should Highlights pretend masks/Covid-zero policies (as dumb as they are) just don't exist for Bethany's comfort? Overall the letter was ridiculous and hysterical, acting like her kids were being shown pornography in Highlights or something when all that was in there was an illustration referencing the current state of the world. Btw, another great way to get rid of masks would be to get more people vaccinated. Bethany, who was pro-vaccine (even authoring a great op-ed on combatting vaccine hestitancy long before covid), is suddenly claiming that mandating vaccines is "racist" and "hurts more than it helps." That's another example of her being disingenous. If she doesn't want kids masked during piano performances, require vaccines of all 5+ to attend the music venue maskless. Of course she won't support this. |
I haven't read enough of her writing to know her stance on this but I think people can be for the vaccine mandates but not to the extent that people lose their jobs, especially people who were essential workers and worked throughout COVID while other people were privileged enough to work from home and stay safe. If those people, many of whom are minorities, don't want to be vaccinated, is it fair to force them to be fired? |
How is it a mandate if it’s optional? Also, the majority of people who aren’t vaccinated in the US are not minorities. |
Please be kind!! One Black guy got arrested for trying to eat at an Applebee's in Manhattan without his vax card last night, which is a violation of his civil rights. Bethany has done more for race relations in this country than John Lewis, Rosa Parks, and Obama combined

| Bethany Mandel brought her sick kid to the pool who then proceeded to poop in the pool. I know this because talked about it, at length, on her PUBLIC INSTAGRAM account. |
Mandatory testing is sometimes offered for those who don't get vaccinated. |

Bethany last month on Twitter: "God grant me the serenity not to respond to someone without children doling out parenting advice".
Bethany today on Twitter: "I find it strange how many people reply to my school tweets with the fact that I homeschool. Yes, I am aware. I am also capable of caring about children other than my own. As a product of an impoverished childhood with a single mother, I know what these closures are doing". Last month she invoked deity to help her not respond to someone without children with the nerve to give parenting advice. Today she's defending the fact that she's weighing in on public-school (mask/vaccine) policies even though she's not a public-school parent. So, Bethany is commenting on a subject she's not qualified to comment on (by her own standard of what qualifies one to weigh in on a subject) because she cares. But someone without children should be passive-aggressively reprimanded for giving parenting advice, not given the benefit of the doubt that their motive for commenting is also based on caring. |
| Bethany thinks libs buying Fauci action figures is a cult, but "stay tuned" for more info on her foray into conservative action figures!!! Not a cult when Republicans do it!!! |
| Bethany now thinks she is a southerner by using y'all. |
| I love how she's back to saying masking your children is not abuse (likely because she saw a post in this thread complaining about it) WHEN SHE LITERALLY HERSELF CALLED IT ABUSE. She says whatever benefits her the moment she's writing the tweet, ffs. |
| Oh, and I also see Bethany thinks I wear a mask to signify I didn't vote for Donald Trump when, in fact, I only wear a mask to signify I'm somewhere that wearing masks is still a local law. Cool cool cool. |
