Holy crap what a joke. No one is jealous of a kid going to ECU for any reason. Get real.

I don't think this person is jealous of ECU, but I do think this is a 22 Orange mom still reeling that her DD didnt' get committed and just trying to tear others down. She's been on these forums for years--I recognize her from when her DD didn't first make Capital at all--and there's just something about her tone and things she says that always make her stand out. |
| Just so you are aware unless you know something is absolutely true you probably shouldn’t write above. Words can bite and the above words could be deemed defamation to the poster above. Heck look what happened to Raiders coach. I would be very careful on this forum writing things that defame or are not 100 percent true. |

There is no name or identifying characteristics, what are you talking about? I don't even know who she is--she just sounds like the same weirdo who comes on here tearing down everybody else because she's bitter. |

Holy Moly! A kid gets the opportunity to play at a D1 school and people feel the need to put down the school?!? There is an amazing amount of dedication and commitment to play at that level. Plus kids should never be disparaged for going to college.
|
| agreed with PP. Sounds like its one or two rotten eggs that keep spoiling the bunch here. We should all be thankful that the players have an opportunity to play at that level and representing the NOVA area. doesn't matter what club they play for. |
There is never a right answer on this forum. Criticized for going to ECU and criticized for not going to ECU. Whatever makes the player happy is all that should matter. |
| I guess the hyper-critical poster feels obligated to opine mindlessly given their frustrations over their own DD’s experience. Look in the mirror. Does it really make you feel good to criticize a 16-year old’s college choice? You really are a loser. I wish you could find happiness and not share your mindless bitterness on this page. |

| Baltimore parent here, it is always interesting to see which families use lacrosse to get their kids into top notch schools that might otherwise be a reach, and those that get blinded by process and kid winds up attending a school they would normally never have considered but for lacrosse. So far, my dd’s friends that have committed are split 50/50 on this, and by the looks of the Capital list, a similar trend. |

Just one opinion: Top players get to choose among dream schools, next tier players get an offer from a dream school. Next tier decides to play at a non-dream school that they are none the less still very happy about. Next tier wants to play enough to commit to a school not otherwise on that student's radar from a non-lacrosse perspective. Then there is a group that does not get an offer that is acceptable so decide to wait it out or try to walk on or play club. There are a certain number of variables among those tiers such as a badly timed injury, exposure at top tournaments, desire for $$ over prestige, and what different families/players consider a "dream" from an academic vs. pure lacrosse program perspective. But as for the last group I put a lot of that on the club program as it often results from unrealistic and untamed expectations.
Sure everyone knows those parents who insist that their daughter will play at XYZ school regardless of lack of interest and have been beating that horse since middle school, But a good club should manage expectations with the hopes that everyone ends up in a happy spot. If Princeton or Maryland etc. is interested in one player but not another, for example, that should be cleared up with that second family asap so that they can move on. It's like the classic mistake of thinking that if D1 doesn't work out you can always fall back on great NESCAC schools when often that ship has sailed as those school are focusing on the players who have been targeting D3 all along. Good club directors have a top ten to twenty list of schools from every player and if they are not helping the player update this in a realistic way throughout the recruiting process then those families haven't been well served for all of those years of time and money spent. |
Really? Note every student is qualified or wants a "top" academic institution but it doesn't mean you can't get a wonderful education at an ECU or other schools. Or did you consider ECU might have had the major/program she wants? Or she has alums in her family? An M&D Black '23 committed there as well, so are you going to trash her choice, too? These kids should be celebrated for their academic and athletic accomplishments, period. And no I'm not a Capital or Pride parent but think this college choice bashing is ridiculous. |
Exactly. Yet she comes back saying that "words bite" after being so hateful, then threatening law suits. Just not right in the head. |
| I don’t think you guys are right in targeting one person as author with all these posts. These opinions are widespread. People stay silent until they see a chance to go off, like here. Tons of parents unhappy/bitter/angry bout lacrosse stuff. |
Good post. Agree with everything except the NESCAC point. At least at the high level, every player who gets meaningful PT at the top NESCAC schools (Middlebury, Tufts, Wesleyan, Amherst) has D1 offers, usually at a high level. They aren't safety schools. These schools aren't recruiting schools who weren't targeting them all along. Now, many students target both NESCAC and Ivies, however, these kids are developing relationships with both programs across their high school careers. |
