Let me guess you have an average Q1 kid….
RAE is real. But its impact is overstated. At younger ages it accounts for about 10% change in distribution. By U15 it’s less than 6%.

Stop looking for excuses, and external “reasons.”

Your kid just needs to be motivated and do the work.
RAE and associated praise or distain from coaches equals motivation or demotivation. That is the main issue. The soccer industry picks winners and losers at ridiculous early ages. Those on the wrong side of RAE just pick from one of the other 12 sports where they are on the right side. No need for them to bang their heads against the wall.

I am afraid the days of just being superior athletes is probably over. Hope US Soccer has a plan or else the women become more like the men in world stature………

You really should listen to the Women's Game Podcast with Sam Mewis - latest episode she talks to a Canadian goalie and it's very clear the US is still far far ahead. Heck just listen to the color commentator on these highlights

Far far ahead and ties Costa Rica, a country that has fewer people than Pittsburgh. They split with Brazil, tied England and did have a decent showing against Netherlands.

Let’s see how they do against the euro giants. I just watched the Spain v Portugal game. And I thought they were a significantly better side than the US has been putting out. But that is just me.

The US just beat these countries to win the olympic gold medal last year and are ranked #1 in the world. And they’ve only gotten better since then with many promising young players. This infatuation with pretty Spanish soccer is strange when it doesn’t result in the domination you think for men or women.

Seriously? do you not follow soccer at all? Spain is ranked #2 in the world in both men’s and women’s FIFA. The womens side is on something like an 10 game unbeaten streak, and not agasint Iceland and Ireland. And the #1 in men? Argentina, another pretty soccer style. Just admit that US womens simply had a huge head start. yes, they had a good run in the Olympics but very disappointing in the years prior including an embarrassing exit at last World Cup.

Cat and Girma are probably the only two superstars we have on the roster at this moment. And dont even start with Trin. My 12 year old has a better first touch. But she is fast, i will give her that.

Cat gets sooooo much hype and love. She is not indispensable. Lynn is.

Correct. People have been saying USWNT dominance is over since BEFORE the 99ers.

Not the person who’s been doing the back and forth just hopping in.

I have a December daughter who plays ECNL is middle of the pack for her team we scrimmage against the ECNL team age group below frequently. Rankings wise for the age group below they are the better team and made it to round of 16 at nationals we did not.

My daughter looks like a whole different kid playing against them compared to her own age group.

RAE obviously plays a role when we compare ECNL players or strong GA amongst themselves. The new age group line will make a difference in my opinion.
Will it make a Aug to December kid who don’t work hard move up no it will not.

Will it allow girls currently playing high level youth soccer to showcase better as players yes it will.

Tryouts are going to be crazy next spring because “most” ECNL teams will see at least 50% turnover if not more. In my opinion but we will see.

Going to be a mad house either way.

That has nothing to do with age at the ECNL level. They have tryouts right?

What you’re saying is your DD is better against worse teams. Totally OK. That is all competition. The opponent matters.

If you asked 100 high level coaches who they would choose first in roster build and 105 of them would choose Cat. 🤡

How does that not have to do with age? When a ECNL player is going against younger ECNL competition they preform better.
Also I’m pretty sure they said the age group below is ECNL and higher ranked.

Are you saying any team in an age group below is worse? That would mean RAE IS a big deal because everyone who’s older would be better.

If you are referring to Catarina Macario, while you tried to be the smartest person in the room, you just exposed yourself as a dolt.

After moving from Brazil as a young kid, Catarina Macario spent her time in the U.S. soccer system as a youth when it was school year based.

It was clear from the telling that the younger, but higher ranked team, wasn’t as good.

You’re an idiot. Look at their minutes. Clearly coaches prefer one over the other. It’s not hard to figure out why. Cat is 100% potential based, Lynn has consistently delivered, especially with her off ball play.

That was the whole point. They are younger and younger players are not on average better than older players at the same level (ECNL). That was the only point made.

My kid's ECNL team scrimmaged against the younger NL team. 4:0 in 30 minutes. Both teams qualified for the playoffs. 3 AugDec. Players in this team. It will come as no surprise that half of the NL players will be replaced by older players from August to December.
