This guy sits on DCUM all day long accusing others of responding to their own posts and saying 8/1 is the holy grail of soccer groupings. Its going to be fun when GA comes out with something like SY+30 with a 9/1 cutoff just to mess with ECNL. |
I'm more interested in what the pre leagues do. |
The pre leagues have already decided to switch to an 8/1 single date cutoff in 2026/27. Initially they tried to do a single 9/1 cutoff to avoid the August birthday issues. But, there was too much pressure so they switched to 8/1 to make everyone happy. Now theres trapped players on both sides of 8/1 instead of just one side with BY. |
Just wait until a recruiter looks at an Aug birthday that is playing down with a younger grade. They'll instantly skip them over because that player will be a graduating senior playing on a team full of juniors. Theres no way a player used to playing against juniors will be able to make the jump and play in college. |
Exactly .... but i thought part of this nonsense was supposed to let different organizations choose different dates / different rules. |
no if your kid is good they will get recruited regardless of what age group they are playing. |
And that did happen. MLSN is keeping BY, right? |
Hard to imagine Mlsn stays BY formally, too much club disruption and potential loss of player pool. |
Aug kid can play up if it aligns with their grade, so they can avoid being the lone Sr on a Jr squad. You can’t play down. Thats why it moved to 8/1 as opposed to 9/1. |
You clearly do not understand that when people sign their kids up for soccer THEY WILL NOT KNOW that their kid is MISALIGNED. I understand that most people on this board don't care for the 95% of kids that play soccer that are not considered "elite" but they matter too. And their experience matters. Almost everyone starts there too. |
Dude you are out of your effing mind… |
Lol, SY+60 guy goes berserk!! |
I think we all know who the troll is |
YES THEY WILL BC I WILL ASSUME FOR THE SAKE IF THIS POST THAT THE PARENTS THAT SIGN UP THEIR KIDS ARE LITERATE. And for the 95% of the kids who are not elite, it will hardly matter if they’re misaligned when they’re in high school because they’re not trying to be recruited anyway. If little Johnny goes to sign up and realizes he will be playing with 2nd graders instead of his 3rd grade buddies, what do you think that club is going to do? Lose the money and tell Johnny and his parents to take a hike? Or, put Johnny on a team of 3rd graders even though he’s a month younger? |
OR a system is in place that doesn't create this scenario in the first place. Kinda like saying we couldn't have done anything about the flooding except you could have not housed children in a flood zone. |
