Peter Alexander reported for the Today show this morning from the neighborhood and summarized the case and that they're still looking, $25K reward etc.

But he said something I hadn't heard before - that the sons body was so badly burned, investigators aren't able to tell if he was assaulted prior

That poor child. I also feel for his sisters who have to hear about their family members brutal murders in detail replayed constantly.
Pure evil. People saying things got out of hand frustrate me a little bit. Burning up an innocent child is simply diabolical, not anger getting out of hand.

Why was the child isolated and the most badly burned. Was the person trying to cover up what had been done to the child. Maybe it was the child that targeted. It just seems so sick.

Seems like the fire was started in the child's room for some reason.

In the Goff case in Potomac 5 people were murdered because the handyman targeted the 16 year old. In the Petit case the mother/teenage daughters were targeted and sexually assaulted. Robbery seemed the secondary motive. In both cases the perps could have cared less about the husbands/fathers. It is just sick that the fire started in the son's room. He could have been the target.

If the son were the target there is no way the family would've survived as long as they had. Sounds like the father came home AFTER the invasion had taken place. The mom likely called him because the perps directed her to get him back home. The father had what they needed.

Agreed. Expectation was: house will be empty and lots of cash inside just sitting under the bed or in the freezer or something; In and out in 20 min; Reality was more complicated: mom and son home and maid present and father needed to access large quantities of cash quickly. Father likely protested that money not so easy to get in quick order, perps did not believe him and that is when it became a drawn out hostage situation; Perps finally either got enough of what they wanted or gave up; killed everyone and torched the house to destroy evidence/witnesses and then one left in their own car and the other took the Porsche to an agreed upon lot known to both in their home neighborhood.

What I don't get is why bother with the Porsche? You're not going to keep it because it would be traced. If you're not going to steal parts or whatever, and you're just going to burn it, why take it at all? Just for the joyride?

Only thing that I can think of is that things happened that weren't originally planned (beatings, stabbings, torturing the little boy, etc) and one of the perps couldn't handle it and bailed with the car to get out of there. But the car was found burning so much later that doesn't make sense unless the others bailed and he was the last one with the family? I can't wrap my head around this whole thing especially with the new news about the little boy and the pizza..I can't fathom

Exactly, joyride and get away car. A professional killer or business dispute would not result in this. It would be too messy, too easy to trace, too likely to draw attention, etc.

I feel sick. this is horrific beyond words.

This is just too much, too awful, too sad. Too hard to even consider. That poor child. I just can't even comprehend.

I am sobbing reading this. I have a six year old--I feel so sick about this. He was only 10 years old. This is so vile and incomprehensible. I just can't imagine what kind of piece of garbage is capable of doing something like this to other adults let alone a child.

As bad as the released information was before these latest reports, this is worse. Whoever did this is - there are no words. I pray the perpetrators are caught quickly, and that they suffer intensely and endlessly.

That's why I say satanic.

Now I know more than I wanted to know about the injuries.

I just want to say about the pizza...If that is true, that seems beyond belief they would take that risk unless someone was involved who works at the home and could receive the pizza. I don't think the deceased maid was in on it. I have suspicions about the second maid, but I don't think she would have been present at the crime scene (if she even is involved) so how is this even possible?

So what did the perps get away with? The rolex and nothing else?

So they were alive still when Phillip was on fire? or at least a woman was.. how insane. This story is so horrific.

Then get ready to be disapointed. They will be caught and will spend the rest of their lives in jail fed, clothed and given a TV and gym by the tax payer. I wouldn't count on intense or endless suffering - not in the DC justice system.

I thought news outlets have said there was money missing from the safe in the home. I just can't imagine all this death for such little money. Absolutely heartbreaking and sickening.

The second maid could have very well been at the scene-the texts she got to stay away were simply that-who knows where she was. They need to really look at her and her friends/realtives very closely. Also,I wonder if her other employers, like the one in Mcclean where she claims to have been may have some clues-also wonder if they will keep her on as a maid-I certainly would not even if she is innocent.

CAN WE PLEASE STOP SPECULATING.

And don't tell me to not read the thread if I don't want to see it.

I am not reading your inane, ignorant musings, but I can see that this thread is up to 107 pages.

That is disgusting.

Move along, this family deserves more respect than a bunch of people judging them, oggling salacious tidbits about their life and death.

Just stop.

I don't know. They killed and tortured a child. Those guys sometimes do get killed in jail. Dahmer.
