So the Skyview schools are Oak Hill, Floris, McNair and Coates.

And Westfield stays slightly underenrolled.

Seems like the best way to do it.

And, Fox Mill at Skyview.

Meren will not be happy.

And, honestly, they sent that one small section of Bull Run to Westfield and the ones that are the farthest away from Centreville at Centreville. Seems like they would send that small area to a Westfield elementary school.

Congratulations to RIO. You did this on nothing but emotion. Geographically and logistically, it makes no sense.

Those are low income apartments. I don't know why you would single out that spot to send to Westfield.

because in FCPS, the squeaky wheel gets the grease?

It looks like Walney Oaks got moved to Westfield for scenario 2, but I have a hard time reading the street names so not sure.

Yes, 2 moves them to Stone/Westfield. Which is very reasonable and makes sense.

Waiting for the inevitable Nextdoor petition.....

At Wegmans, I met a woman from that neighborhood who is 100% delusional. She was convinced that her neighborhood is the only "wealthy" neighborhood that currently attends Franklin, and that Brookfield is a more desirable elementary school than Oak Hill, Navy, or Waples Mill.

She said Waples Mill, Navy, and Oak Hill are all high FARMS schools (huh?) and that Brookfield's test scores are far superior to Greenbriar West, Greenbriar East, Poplar Tree, and Lees Corner.

She continued by telling me that without Walney Oaks, Franklin would be a Title I school and that their test scores would be low if it weren't for the "extraordinarily wealthy" children from Walney Oaks.

She obviously is delusional. Basically every statement that came out of her mouth was false!

I believe the part of Brookfield being sent from Chantilly to Westfield is pretty much the only area of Chantilly HS that is low income as well.

Gee. I'm pretty sure you are correct that it includes some low income. But, there are other pockets at Chantilly. That is a really crappy thing to do. They could have evened this out more. It almost looks deliberate. Limousine liberals. Totally political decisions.

On the other hand, Chantilly is losing a higher income level school.

I think it was pretty clear based on all the drama that Westfield already has more than their fair share of low income areas already attending, now they are getting assigned more low income areas from CVHS and CHS? That seems pretty crappy (and no, I don't have kids in this fight but it just seems messed up).

Reminder: Westfield is losing two schools with high FARMS.

All the rest of their elementary school feeders are high FARMs though (except maybe Cub Run?) and they are losing Floris. So not sure how the balance works out. A well-run school district would be tracking that behind the scenes, but, well, we have FCPS.

While Floris is not a high FARMS school, the part that Westfield is losing does have some multi-family housing in it. But, remember FARMS can include people who fall on hard times, lose jobs, etc. So, it is not always easy to judge. A lot of schools had a jump in FARMS during/after COVID.

I prefer scenario 2 from my neck of the woods.

Westfield is getting destroyed with the these two new maps. Down to 2100 students. That school will be circling the drain for the next decade.

Looks like the pulled the maps down.

I'm still seeing them too

Does anyone know when they will revisit ES boundaries? The School Board said they are off the table for now, but when? Thanks

In five years.

Didn't Reid say we are going to see 3 scenarios?
Anonymous
So they will make a decision in five years and then implement it within the following school year? Is that how they do it?

Here is what the updated 2025-26 FCPS enrollments would look like under the January 2026 boundary changes and the two revised scenarios:

Scenario 1:

Lake Braddock 2922
West Springfield 2848
Oakton 2589
West Potomac 2558
Robinson 2549
Woodson 2471
Langley 2416
Fairfax 2344
Chantilly 2305
Madison 2227
Edison 2197
Justice 2147
Hayfield 2139
TJHSST 2125
McLean 2123
Centreville 2119
Westfield 2083
Herndon 2061
Marshall 2045
South County 2042
Falls Church 2035
South Lakes 2033
Annandale 2002
Skyview 1760
Mount Vernon 1788
Lewis 1537

Scenario 2:

Lake Braddock 2922
West Springfield 2848
Oakton 2721
West Potomac 2558
Robinson 2549
Woodson 2471
Langley 2416
Fairfax 2344
Chantilly 2331
Madison 2227
Edison 2197
Justice 2147
Hayfield 2139
TJHSST 2125
McLean 2123
Westfield 2111
Centreville 2119
Herndon 2061
Marshall 2045
South County 2042
Falls Church 2035
Annandale 2002
South Lakes 1984
Mount Vernon 1788
Skyview 1760
Lewis 1537

Getting Westfield down to 2100 kids would be an inefficient use of FCPS's building resources, given Westfield's capacity, but Westfield would still have an enrollment larger than 10 other high schools, or almost 40% of the total number of high schools.

People in other parts of the county have already seen their schools downsized by FCPS because FCPS was allocating so much of its capital resources to expanding schools in or serving western Fairfax.

In that case, scenario 2.

Going below 2100 students negatively affects the courses available, especially at a school with a lot of FARMs students.

This means FCPS cannot cave in to the Chantilly people being moved over (all neighborhoods that make logical sense to be moved). They just can't lose any more students at Westfield.

I think it will work out OK given the new construction in its boundary, but agree with pp. No giving in to whiny Walney Oaks people. They are adding in low income areas balanced by wealthier areas to Westfield to put it at the bare minimum of students. There is no room for doing special favors for a street or "little neighborhood".
