If that’s the worst they can find about him, that’s a good thing. Compared to Eric Adams and Andrew Cuomo, this is not a big deal

His communist Twitter and social media posts and archives are what do him in.

Filling out forms and culturally depicting himself as sub-Saharan African is him being a slimy loser liar. Unf it plays into the fraudster Indian stereotype too.

If that's the worst thing about him, then New York definitely dodged a bullet not choosing Andrew "rapist, geriatric killer and Israel" first Cuomo.

The worst thing about him are his beliefs and policy ideas. His actions are proving he will lie to get what he wants.
Pretty sad that these two are the best the Dems could come up with.

I don’t know: believing that he can make NY more affordable again seems like a pretty good goal to me! His specific ideas seem perfectly reasonable:

Government grocery stores: the policy proposal is one per borough in food deserts (where private grocery stores don’t already operate) as a TEST

Free buses: Kansas City has free buses and as far as I am aware, that has not destroyed the city. I live outside of Boston which had some free buses routes and Boston is thriving under Mayor Wu.

Free universal childcare: NYC has had free preK for a while and people like it. Why shouldn’t be free childcare be a goal?

Rent freezes: applies to rent controlled apartments only which have been allowed to raise rents by quite a bit in the last couple of years under Adams. Percentage rent increases for rent controlled apartments (not all apartments) is squarely a decision within the mayor’s control. Rent increases for these units have been set at zero for periods before and the wealthy didn’t flee the city.

Mamdani offers some new ideas to solve current problems. I just don’t get why he is so scary to people.

He’s scary to people who are fundamentally okay with the status quo. But the reason Mamdani and Trump are the enough people are willing to shake things up.

He was born in Africa, lived in Uganda until he was seven, lived in South Africa and New York City.

He is more African American than Black Americans who never lived in Africa.

Oh please. Every few months somebody in the college discussion section who is not Black but has roots in Africa asks if they could be considered African-American, and they get laughed out of town. If Mamdani is African, so is Elon Musk.

I predict that this is not going to get the outrage you think it is.

And, he knows - or SHOULD know - that he has no authority to enact most of the promises he is making. In fact, the role he is currently in IS the place where most of his policy positions could be enacted. Why hasn't he done it already?

He's most scary to people who are hardcore Israeli supporters which is a significant portion of the New York population. Being against a settler colonial apartheid ethnostate will make you a target no matter where you are in the country in politics.

You do realize that Africa is a continent made up of individual countries? Elon is from South Africa. He’s not “African”.

As opposed the North, East West or Central African? Technically correct, but not necessarily a required modification of the word African to indicate someone from that continent.

Obviously, leveraging loopholes to eliminate your opponent is easier than offering policies your constituents can stand behind.

New Yorker here. I’m voting for him.

He can do what Trump did. The authority is there for the taking. He will have control of the NYC police.

I love how bothered people are by Mamdani.

From the Magas. To the Democratic establishment. To the Zionist apologists. It's bothered the right people, and I am here for it.

Yay for making NY Jewish with the kibbutz for all. Mamdani is well-trained.
