Yes, it was a wrong call. Obviously. In a heated situation that happened quickly and I have sympathy for that person who screwed up and must feel beyond terrible. But what didn't happen quickly was the gradual relaxation of gun control restrictions such that an 18 year old can easily go into a shop and buy two AR platform rifles 2 days after his 18th birthday. This is society's fault for letting guns proliferate like candy such that anyone can access them without any sort of background check or licensing. |

What is wrong with this country that an 18 year old kid can walk into a store and buy enough weapons and ammunition to kill a boatload of children?
https://www.thedailybeast.com/father-of-uvalde-shooter-salvador-ramos-says-he-shouldve-just-killed-me The details of his son’s attack were horrifying: According to authorities, he purchased two rifles and 375 rounds of ammunition in the leadup to the massacre, and barricaded himself inside the classroom for over an hour. One student recalled him telling the children in the classroom: “It’s time to die.” |
So a Texas cop? Not neutral. |
What about the police who rushed in and were wounded(I wonder what their wound were?) What about the little girl getting shot after the cop ask her if she needed help and she said yes? That is not an active shooter? I guess this is what you get in Texas. A power grid that does not work, police who do not work, etc. It is like Somalia and Texans are okay with it.. You elected a bunch of people who hate the government and do everything in their power to make sure it does not work. At this point I think it is time to break the country up. Let Texas and the red states do their thing. The blue states can actually move forward and build a working country. |
| It’s literally a life or death or situation. You err on the side of following the active shooter protocols because kids are alive and bleeding out. You have real time access to information through 911. You have 19 officers standing down in the school hallway. This shouldn’t be hard. |
| Teacher went to get a cell phone and left school foot propped open. Shooter spent 12 minutes outside randomly firing dozens of rounds and the school wasn’t locked down by administrators. Twelve minutes is an eternity. |
^^^^ door not foot |
It was a bad call during a very stressful time. I am sure he feels beyond horrible. There were lots of mistakes make. Someone left that darn door open. That was an oversight with tragic consequences. |
Texas is a big state. It has lists of different police departments. This is a small town. It fff eggplant on the school district police chief to make decisions. He failed at each opportunity. |
I don’t mean as a negotiating tactic, really, I mean as a psychological anchor. In our society, the two sides for a long time have been: I want any weapon I want any time I want Vs. I respect your right to a weapon can we have some common sense controls though pwetty pwease? Maybe our side should instead be “You are an idiot and should not have any weapons of war and I want to take away your guns.” |
Exactly. The issue is the guns. The issue is the guns. The issue is the guns. |
It’s not an “oversight.” It is a breach of the most fundamental security protocol, bordering on criminal negligence. |

In a normal country an open door would not cost 21 humans their lives within minutes. In a deranged society where guns matter more than people I guess it could though. |
The FBI is supporting the investigation. They aren’t the lead which is standard protocol. They’ll sssist with weapons purchase, financial records, obtaining data and interviewing witnesses. |
