Okay? I think you're not the target audience. There are a lot of othere shows -- and other threads -- though. Maybe you could go over there?

The target audience is NOT “woke” millennials. They THINK they’re going to get them to watch with this nonsense, but no way.

The target audience are the original viewers. And we just want to see what happens to these people. The end. None of this ridiculous writing.

Why do you think this is the only thing that defines the target audience?

Because this show is old. And it had a cult following. No one new is tuning in.

She has people sitting in her apartment for hours at a time to help her to the bathroom (get a nurse, lady, or go to rehab) and when Miranda gets high with Che and fools around, Carrie basically verbally abuses her for having the audacity not to be attending to Carrie's every need. But she won't get up out of the bed so Miranda can actually make her comfortable. I would be so out of there.

Did you watch the original series? It’s basically episode after episode of Carrie’s tantrums.

I was one of the original viewers. I am fine with storylines involving gay, transgender, and non-binary people, as well as micro aggressions. Not everyone is as narrow minded as you.

Oh please. It doesn’t make you narrow minded if you don’t like these ridiculous story lines.

DP

Certainly, but fictional mass media is full of ridiculous storylines. There is weird science fiction, and cartoons about alcoholic grandpas who travel through time and space, and a high school science teacher becoming a meth overload, and about pretty middle-class SAHM cannibalism, and on and on.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I doubt you feel compelled to visit threads or fansites for The Expanse, Rick & Morty, Breaking Bad, or the Santa Clarita Diet -- are you?

So what's so important about making sure other people know you look down on this one?

The original series was full of “ridiculous” storylines that were trying to be edgy and progressive for their time. The new series is no different, it just bothers you now because society has progressed past you.

My co-workers in their 20s and 30s are watching. Kim Kardashian is watching. It has been the biggest view audience of a series debut in HBOMax's entire history, and the viewership went up by more than an additional 50% for the second show. That's not all people that look like you and think like you. There just aren't that many of you.

It will be interesting to see where this goes in Nielsen demographics. I'll update the thread when I see it.

Meanwhile, you are (of course) entitled to your opinion. I'd encourage you to consider that there is a lot of the world going on that apparently you don't see or don't understand, but it's still there. Maybe it would be interesting to just let it be and not necessarily try to shut it down.

Also, the Miranda story seems to be trying to mirror the actor's real life, right? So did she struggle with alcoholism, too?

Miranda is a different person in this show. I don’t think the character would be okay with hearing her child have sex on the other side of the wall. It’s more Cynthia Nixon now than Miranda.

To be sure, most people aren’t into listening to their relatives or friends banging loudly like that, and certainly not all the time like Miranda’s son and his gf. If Steve and Miranda were doing it like that every day, I’m sure Brady and gf would be packing their bags.

Parents barely / rarely tolerate kids turning up music in the house. Miranda may be living a little too much vicariously through Brady’s sex life.

Uhhhh I hear my DS and his live in boyfriend all the time. But they have nowhere else to go bc they are saving for a home.

But they are adults right? And do they pay you rent?

No. We are trying to help them. But it’s hard listening to them go at it nightly and all the naughty talk

Bruh. You gotta say something to them.

+1 of they're not paying rent and smashing, then they're extremely rude house guests. Start an s/o thread on how to grow a spine and deal with this situation

+1 This was barely more than her freakout over Samantha and the FedEx guy.

Kim C is deft with the shade, enjoying her "drama free" life. Sadly don't think she'll ever agree to come back.

I'm still holding out hope she'll agree to return for an extraordinarily-well-compensated short arc.

Uh, what? The fact that she was bedridden aside... if my (married!) friend had loud sex in MY kitchen with MY BOSS while I was in the other room, hell yes I would be pissed. Grown adults should be able to control themselves FFS. If they are that horny they can go find somewhere else to do it. Good lord.

I think you missed the point. It’s how Carrie handled it. It’s always about her being the victim.

How would YOU handle it if you peed yourself because your friend was having sex with your boss in your kitchen? LOL. Some of y'all are so weird. The whole point of that scene was to show how far Miranda has spiralled.
