Why didn’t they take the offers?

I think some didn’t like the coach. Other are Smart parents that knew the VSA team has the Exact same recruiting opportunities as the VDA. Post anything special or different the older VDA teams got that the VSA team didn’t?

VSA plays in ECNL showcases? Has players committed to virginia tech, gw, Vcu, etc?

Clearly a naive VSA 08 parent. The value in ECNL is the recruiting opportunities. The VDA and VSA players will not have the same opportunities. If your VSA coach is telling you different then they are not doing the job you pay them to do.

VSA plays in ECNL Regional. I know that is a big step away from ECNL but there is something going on with the regional teams that said if they win their region they get to go to an ECNL showcase. I'm not sure if they get to play ECNL teams at this showcase or they just play the winners of the other ECNL regions but there is a chance they can go.

I think it was more so the coach. The VSA 08 coach is a better coach than the VDA 08 coach. I know some of these parents recognized that.

The ECNL Regional winner does get one showcase opportunity, which is different from many opportunities for many teams. More importantly, the competition in that league is not nearly as good as the ECNL. There are typically a few good teams at every age group, but those teams don’t get to play other good teams every single week.

At U13, development should still matter most, so the coach should be the most important factor, followed by teammates, followed by league. I can see why some VSA players stayed with their team rather than making the jump to VDA - especially this year when the ECNL travel schedule seemed less appealing than usual. It might not have been the right decision though since it will be harder to break into an ECNL roster in at U14 and above.

Also, VSA is third in the regional league right now behind Vienna and Strikers. There is a big gap between 3rd and 4th, but it’s hard to make a case that they are a top area team, and they are definitely not as good as VDA.

FCV is a good team, rankings are not important at u13

Whatever, coach.

Shut up fatty incompetent ref. And get out of the circle. Calling penalty kicks from 50 yards away is asinine.

These are not rankings, these are league standings from the official league website. I did not say that they are a bad team, I just don't think that they are the best team in the area, as PP claimed.

Whatever happened to Metro? They were able to put together some good girls on that team but the results are not there.

Could it be that the problem is the coaching staff and not the players at that club?

Nah, it’s the staff. They make good players run for the hills.

Look at the title of this thread. Me and many other parents of 2008G appreciate and find this thread very useful. If you don’t, by all means, go elsewhere.
