FCPS comprehensive boundary review

Why in the world would all MSs need to be the same grades? This serves zero purpose.

I do however think it is ridiculous that homes that are undeniably MUCH closer to Herndon, are zoned for Langley. If you paid more for your house, wirh a Herndon address and assumed your home would be zoned for Langley for eternity, I am sorry for you. .

Moving the F*ville kids won’t change scores. The UMC and MC class at HHS are already competitive with Langley students. Who really cares about the average or median scores except principals and teachers? FCPS really needs to bring back differentiation while continuing to recognize students especially ESL/FARMS who make great strides even if they not yet caught up. Both things should be measured. Keep F*ville in its own hole.

Chantilly parents will throw a fit over being moved to Westfield, generally seen as an inferior school.

Chantilly parents don't mind sending their kids to an overcrowded school. They love their school!!

Forestville loves our community schools too, so what’s your point. People pushing for boundary changes don’t care about these students.

Changing the school an ES matriculates to doesn't change the community of that school. Unless you're trying to say that Forestville is part of the Langley community, which is like, Elastigirl levels of stretching, didn't think that was possible in real life.

Great to hear that centreville and chantilly are good with while elementary school moves! That’ll be what’s required to alleviate overcrowding at the schools.

Moving the Brookfield kids to Stone MS and Westfields HS would make sense.

Same for Lee's Corner, who should go to Franklin MS and then onto Westfields.

I don't see how they eliminate split MS feeders entirely.

Brookfield kids are walkers to both Rocky Run and Chantilly HS. You really think they are going to move them to Stone and Westfield??
A lot of
Leescorner kids are also walkers to Chantilly.

It made sense when they changed the boundaries thirty years ago.

A new look might mean those houses go back.

I mean that might have added some small amount to the conversation one hundred pages ago 🙄

The people pushing for boundary changes are very intent on moving other people's kids around. They don't seem to grasp that perhaps it will be *their* kids who are moved to different schools. It's interesting observing this obsessive behavior.

The one poster who most regularly displays this behavior appears to be a Forestville parent.

Oh, please. We can all read. It's clear the arrogant posters who think they have the right to move other people's kids don't even have kids in the Langley pyramid. OTC, they're twisting themselves into pretzels to justify moving kids who aren't even theirs. It's pretty jaw-dropping.

I’ve been reading the thread and what’s jaw-dropping are the Langley posters who won’t shut up about where they think kids in other pyramids should go. It’s a combination of trying to get other people as agitated as you all apparently are and trying to arrange the deck chairs so that other people’s kids are moved instead. Either way, it’s tiresome and obnoxious.

Your post is so transparent. Obviously, you're one of the posters who refuses to name the school YOUR kids attend, yet you think you have some kind of say about where OTHER people's kids should go. I have absolutely no opinion about kids other than my own, and where those kids should attend school. Tell us why you are so obsessed with Langley kids? Oh, and also - let us know where your kids go to school. Still waiting.

Not that you are judge or jury, but very convenient that you ignore the other poster pushing to move kids in the name of soaking a zip code.

I’m sure you have no agenda 🙄

We’ll see where the SB lands on this, but it’ll be very fascinating to see the proponents go ballistic when they realize the culmination of these efforts. Don’t say that you weren’t warned.

+1
Honestly, it will be so very interesting to see the most aggressive posters on this thread get a taste of their own medicine if the SB decides to move THEIR kids.

Herndon HS is fine. Its mid as far as FCPS schools go. Not the best, not the worst.

Um - plenty of Springfield parents are angry and loud too - and for good reason, just like the Langley parents.

When someone has had the "best" school for their kids--and Langley is the richest school--equality with what everyone else is getting --feels like injustice.

Ah, there you are. As if we didn't already know what your agenda is. Mediocrity for ALL! "Equity"! I'm so glad my kids are almost done with FCPS.

DP. I would add to that - if you don't have kids at a certain school, you are disqualified from suggesting changes to its boundaries.

Rocky Run is one of the best middle schools and Stone is...not. No one is agreeing to that without a fight.

Interesting! Looks like *everyone* gets upset at the thought of switching their kids to a school that isn't as good. Human nature. So maybe some of you can lay off the attacks on a certain group of people.

Exactly how Langley/cooper families feel about Herndon high and middle. You are not movinh kids to comparable schools at all. Yet any Langley family that wants to fight for their kid is labeled entitled when it doesn’t seem the case for other parents in the county fighting for what’s best for their kids. Make it make sense

+100
Exactly. You don't see the usual boundary-obsessives spewing vitriol at the Springfield families who don't want their kids going to Lewis, or people like the above poster in Chantilly. Which makes it even MORE clear that those posters only want Langley to be affected because they hate Langley/Great Falls. It's so obvious.

Will you finally shut up and go away then? That would be such a blessing for everyone (no doubt including many other Langley parents).

I am judging you, because you put the evidence out there every day to assess.

My assumption is that, if they do change the boundaries in western Fairfax, part of 22066 might get moved and the rest would stay put.

Personally, I’d rather they put a hold on this boundary study now since enrollments are flat and there are other factors at play (demographic and political) that could lead to further enrollment declines over the coming years. But they seem intent on moving forward and, if they do, my only “agenda” with respect to Langley is that it be treated fairly - which means neither catered to nor discriminated against.

But one thing you need to keep in mind is that their approach is not the approach of the last 15 years, where they looked at whether a school was overcrowded and, if so, whether there was a higher rated school to which kids could be moved. Now they are looking at other factors, such as whether a school is under capacity and whether they can reduce the amount of time kids spend on buses. The old paradigm - which might have excluded Langley from consideration for any boundary changes - no longer applies.

How many times have you repeated this?
