"The Jussie Smollett case is important because it etches the stark contrast between how Dems go to any length to protect their own whilst simultaneously besmirching the reputation of their opponents without a pang of guilt or an iota of evidence."

There were some naysayers from the beginning and as things looked worse and worse for Smollett, he lost support, was fired, etc. What is that quote referring to?

Well, seeing as he pretty much skated on the charges because he has "friends in high places" and his whole ruse was to besmirch the reputation of Trump supporters, I would say the tweet is quite accurate.

Lesson to be learned: If you want to claim you were a victim of a hate crime that never happened - have at it. Nothing will happen to you legally.

Here's the rope that Jussie had around his neck 40 minutes later when the cops arrived.

TMZ, the site that broke this story and reported it as gospel truth, has an article about this.

Jussie is a very sick puppy. And he’s STILL lying about what he did. Has he had a psychiatric evaluation? He seems to be suffering with massive delusion.

Or is he just a complete con job?

You must be joking. He said the people who attacked him were Trump supporters. He lied. And because of that lie, people all over the nation (well, the ones who actually fell for his lies) engaged in attacks against anyone wearing MAGA hats. He is largely responsible for the climate of hatred in this country.

Reread the first page of this thread, for starters.

I just went back and read it for the first time since all of this happened and couldn't believe it. What utter imbeciles.

Which of his Liberal elite friends were naysayers from the beginning? None.

Wow, are you delusional. Not one of these people/organizations paused long enough to confirm the allegations were true. They simply jumped aboard the outrage bandwagon with their idiotic comments, sympathizing with Smollett and his horrible "attack," and pandering to liberals who ate it right up. You should be ashamed for pretending otherwise (as should they).

Nancy Pelosi
"The racist, homophobic attack on [Jussie Smollett] is an affront to our humanity," Pelosi tweeted. "No one should be attacked for who they are or whom they love. I pray that Jussie has a speedy recovery & that justice is served. May we all commit to ending this hate once & for all."

Joe Biden
"What happened today to [Jussie Smollett] must never be tolerated in this country," Biden tweeted. "We must stand up and demand that we no longer give this hate safe harbor; that homophobia and racism have no place on our streets or in our hearts. We are with you, Jussie."

Kamala Harris
Jussie Smollett "is one of the kindest, most gentle human beings I know," Harris tweeted. "I’m praying for his quick recovery. This was an attempted modern day lynching. No one should have to fear for their life because of their sexuality or color of their skin. We must confront this hate."

Cory Booker
"The vicious attack on actor Jussie Smollett was an attempted modern-day lynching. I'm glad he's safe.
To those in Congress who don't feel the urgency to pass our Anti-Lynching bill designating lynching as a federal hate crime– I urge you to pay attention."

NAACP
"The recent racist and homophobic attack on acclaimed actor and activist Jussie Smollett is troubling. The rise in hate crimes is directly linked to President Donald J. Trump’s racist and xenophobic rhetoric," Johnson said in a statement. "It is dangerous for any society to allow a tone of divisiveness and hatred to dominate the political discourse. As this rhetoric continues to bleed into our everyday lives, dangerous behavior will continue to place many law-abiding individuals at risk."
As if that were not enough, the NAACP president compared Trump's rhetoric to "terrorism." He concluded, "We pray for a full physical and mental recovery Jussie Smollett and many unnamed victims of this forum of hate based terrorism."

HRC (Human Rights Campaign)
"This shocking attack on our friend and tremendous advocate Jussie Smollett is, unfortunately, not an isolated incident," Griffin said in a statement. "There is an alarming epidemic of hate violence in our country that disproportionately targets Black people, LGBTQ people, and religious minorities — and particularly those living at the intersections of multiple identities."

GLAAD
"Our hearts are with Jussie Smollett as he recovers from a hate-motivated and repugnant attack in Chicago," GLAAD president and CEO Sarah Kate Ellis said in a statement. "Jussie has always used his voice and talent to create a better world, and it is disgusting that anyone, especially someone who has done such good for so many, would be targeted by undeniable hatred."

ACLU
"LGBTQ people of color live at multiple intersections of oppression, too often facing violence compounded by both racism and homophobia," the ACLU tweeted. "This isn't the America we want to live in. Our thoughts are with Jussie Smollett and all survivors."

SPLC
"Hate crimes — especially against LGBTQ+ and black people — are increasing," the SPLC tweeted, believing his story verbatim. "Actor Jussie Smollett, who is both black and gay, was attacked by two men who allegedly shouted, 'This is MAGA country!' after they beat him and put a rope around his neck."

If you guys can believe that the Mueller report exonerates Trump, despite all the evidence it lays out demonstrating his criminality, then I can believe Jussie Smollet is telling the truth, no matter what the Chicago PD find in their investigation. I think this whole thing is a big hoax perpetrated out of their hatred for Jussie.
