The whole DMV is down this year and it might even be worst next year.
What's the psych profile of the "down year in DMV", "big drop off in talent", "club lacrosse ruining the sport", "nothing like the old days" poster? Happy not to live in your world. But what is it? Dad of 2nd best player on a bad team? If your team is on top you aren't saying that right? Just a very tired narrative.
I think he's parroting.
Just telling the truth. Not nearly as many elite teams in DMV compared to years past and programs that have enjoyed long term success are down, if not out. This will be corroborated over the next 6 months by a lack of college commitments
I agree with this. Been involved w high level private school lacrosse for 12 years. It is down. no doubt. Club results are one data point, recruiting rankings are another. Head to head outside of our area for HS lax is a third. All are trending down. It isn't off a cliff, but it's down. I am not sure why, but agree with poster above.
You may be right, or you may be suffering from old guy disease. Doesn't matter. The question is why do you and your like-minded, glory days clowns need to keep posting this conclusion? What are you trying to accomplish? Diminishing your kids', and their teammates and competitors skills and commitment? Totally repetitive and unproductive.
I don't know about other people's motives, but my motive is simply putting out an opinion that may add some context to others, who are also forming an opinion. I am pretty sure it's a private school lacrosse thread on a forum that is designed for people to post opinions. If kids or parents can't take that, well, I guess I'd say grow up.
This year's Landon and Prep teams (who are not as good as last year's Landon team or Prep's '23 team) would likely blow out the "historic" Landon and Prep teams from the 90s and 00's. DMV Lacrosse is not down. Local kids are better at every position. Lacrosse in general has grown a lot in the last 20-30 years, and it is up everywhere.
While the proliferation of club lacrosse has brought plenty of negative consequences, it's also brought parity to the DMV and national lacrosse in general. Gone are the days where you had no chance of getting recruited if you didn't play for one of the big privates. Kids can play at almost any high school they want - and play with their friends, and still get seen in the summer. So there will likely be less super teams that excel on the national stage, but it has nothing to do with the quality of players playing in the DMV.
