I would not doubt this is true, probably because with virtual school so many parents have seen how pathetically low the typical classroom curriculum is and have decided their kids need more challenging work.

Not sure how virtual learning correlates with "more" students applying this year. This by itself is flawed. The only official test taken and supported by empirical data is the NNAT. If kids didn't score 132 or higher, they aren't part of the pool. Sure, parents can still submit a referral but without letters of recommendations and/or piano, chest completion results, etc., being considered by FCPS, the number of parents applying this year for level IV is a lot lower than you think.

Once again, if this is true, it should have been communicated way before now.

Our school newsletter sent out today said “AAP School-Based Services (Level II-III) Referral Form due by April 23, 2021”

It would make no sense to have level III deadline the same day as notification for level IV (or even close to that date)

Students who apply for Level IV and are not accepted are automatically considered for Levels II and III, so it doesn’t affect it.

(Level II-III) Referral Forms due by April 23 are for next year. This has nothing to do with Level 4 placement.

This what I read in the email they sent for inpool in december: You will be notified of the selection committee’s decision by the middle of April, so it may be in mid of April not in beginning of April.

Eligibility decisions are sent April 5-6.

Whoever is responsible for this, it’s annoying.

It does IF your child doesn’t get in IV and you need to consider level III. I imagine a large portion of level III students are those that applied and didn’t get in to level IV so the two are related.

I love that there are 11 pages of comments on this thread with no actual scores hahahaha

I'm totally guilty of checking in 5532 times a day to see if someone else perhaps found out

Same. Although admittedly, they could at minimum let us know if mailed or emailed... Doesn’t take much to update a status on the website.

PP here - so you disagree that more parents have referred a child for placement in Level IV this year? Do you know that for a fact? Not arguing, I just assumed there were MORE referrals considering a PP’s post that they were overwhelmed with applications. I don’t think the inability to include letters of recommendations from tutors deterred any parents from referring their children this year.

I’m waiting for the 11 pm text that FCPS has eliminated AAP.

haha..too funny. There is one part of me who wants that but I know benefits of AAP programs. So hope not.

Since it's already end of Apr 6th, I think they have been mailed and we should get them sometime this week. Some people might get them tomorrow if they started mailing on Monday.

+1 Mail has been horrific! Like 4 weeks for things! Emails should be sent. I am going to email the AAP office and call. This is utter bs.
