And yet not a single thing you noted requires one to live in the District. The act of living in the District again is not thrilling, as you've pointed out very well here. |
Different posters, although of course the spike in violent crimes in DC over the past several years should concern both women and men. And your defense of how thrilling DC is sounds weak. There have been white supremacists arrested in Bloomingdale. People in Ashburn take care of their own families without playing your silly political games or coming up with litmus tests for everyone. |

We are seeing it here in Md.
It's either general inflation based on need orva bubble that will burst. I think it's the former. |
I don’t get it. Is this satire? Do you think you need to live in the city of DC to do that stuff? Shoot, I lived in Delaware from 2005 to 2010 and then Hershey, PA until June 2018 and I did every single one of those things. Transportation. It is a thing that exists. |
Lol! Wut? I live in Ashburn and have done all of this. Including attending the The Obama for America Staff Ball at the Armory. However I did go to Hilary Clinton's Book signing, but that was in Virginia. Does that count? The symphony is REALLY REALLY REALLY boring. That was a one and done. Are you under the impression that only DC residents attend inauguration and marches? You really need to get out more. There's a big world out there waiting for you to learn all about. |
| Born and raised in Fairfax, also lived in DC. Lived in Ashburn for a few years and just recently moved back out. Don’t be fooled by the new houses and space. Once it settles, you’ll be bored out of your mind. Zero character, nothing to do, and a LOT more Trump supporters than I was comfortable with. I moved back to Fairfax and am so glad I did. |

Screw DC (and by association Ashburn or any other suburb). I'm moving to South Florida.
That part of Florida IS "thrilling". |
Ok then. Have you: spent actual time really exploring the National Gallery of Art? wandered the Tidal Basin? ate at Nobu? shopped in Georgetown? |
enjoy your hurricanes |
I will. Every place has issues. Have you looked at DC today? Looks like a war zone. |
1. So many times, if I never stepped foot in there again I'd die happy. Between school field trips, out of town guests, and a few random exhibits i wanted to see if I never stepped foot in there I'd die happy. However I absolutely love love the Rijksmuseum. 2. Too many tourists. Nothing appealing about being in nature with a zillion people throwing all their trash around and walking around with selfies sticks. I don't really care to wade through empty plastic water bottles and throngs of loud Chinese tourists. 3. There is a Nobu in DC? Who cares? I went to the one on 57th and also the pleasure of dining at Sukiyabashi Jiro. It ruined all other sushi for me. How does Nobu DC compare? Can it compete with Jiro? Nobu is practically a chain now. You could at least have called out Barmini or Rose's. 4. I certainly don't need to travel to Georgetown to shop at an Athleta, Banana Republic or Sunglasses Hut. Is this supposed to be a selling point? Do people still shop at these stores? Is the TJ Maxx any good there? do you finish up your shopping with lunch at Chipotle?

That beez Raciss But it iz thrilling |
| This thread is so weird to me. Ashburn is literally a 20-25 minute car ride to the heart of DC. Why does everyone treat it like it's another planet? |
No it isn’t. 45 mins is more like it without significant traffic. But I agree with your sentiment. |
No. Housing prices and interest rates don’t move in opposite directions. |
